After seeing a few posts about the general melee mechanics in PS2, i got thinking. What is your opinion of different melee weapons for PS? Should they be just cosmetic? (Golden katana for 4,99€ :P) Or should they have a more game defining role?
Personally i could see PS2 adding a few different melee weapons with different applications. Energy Batons (Shock Mauls): They could do less damage than the basic melee knife (slower swing speed) but they would drain shields like crazy which would make it great against HA users (their mitigation seems to rely on shields). Chainsword : I can't see this working in PS2, but a man can dream . Extra damage to health with less damage to shields. Good against people with low shields. ES Specific knife: Your standard go to melee weapon also the only weapon that can get a backstab bonus (Infils need love too). Power Fist: Possibly only for MAX'es. Powerful enough to do some damage to vehicles, slow and hard to aim. Some of these (or all if you will) might and probably are OTT and not PS2 worthy, but i really would like to hear your opinion on the Shock Maul and your general opinion on different melee weapons. |

Rat flail plz
On topic! I don't know because I've seen hints that they might have quick knifing which hurts my soul. If they have it so that you have to wield your melee weapon, then I'm totally for lightsabers But I'm a VS so we're allowed to have them ^^ |

Its all about armor brother. There are bulletproof armors today that make you absolutely immune to bullets up to .50 caliber. This being the future i would imagine two well matched people firing big bullets at each other wont do a whole lot of damage. But if one guy has an force sword that would cleanly part your armoor exposing your vital organs to a weapon sharper than a surgeons scalpel then I guess we would have a quick winner.

Yeah we have those little knives. And they Pretty much look and act like the little knives in cod, bf3, and all the other modern day shooters. I personally like really big knives that would chop a dude wearing heavy assault armor in half.

You scoff now, but Melee Booster + Secondary Firemode (i.e. powered mode) allowed more than one cloaker to two-shot many players. Unless you were a TR Cloaker, of course (the Chainblade is very loud when its secondary mode is on).
