What Elements from other games would help PS2?


I'm in favour of players from the wider gaming community having been brought in to the development fold.

I'm also curious to know what "bits" of other games could be brought into PS2 in a practical sense.

Now, we've had lots of discussions about airships, titans, etc. so we're not really after that list again, but are there mechanics or scenarios from other games that could add to PS2?

So for example - crafting. Maybe sounds a bit daft, but if an engineer is sitting defending his deployed galaxy, should he be allowed to "craft" some more mines out of local rocks, assuming the resource type in the hex allows it?

Or, Dark Souls allows other players to see how you died. Wouldn't that be cool? You help out in an epic base fight in some spectacular way. You hit a key and 1 hour later a video is available to you on the SOE forums which allows you to replay your epic win? (I used to love gamereplays.org for this)

Thoughts?

This is a wish-list right? Prone! Real interaction with the environment - ie climbing walls, leaping over boxes etc. Dual pistols. Looting enemy corpses!

Minigames - There are times when you have got to wait for something or someone, minigames are a nice touch in this respect.

Yeah, like Dark Skyes used to have in PS1... The number of times I'd arrive at a base hacked by their Outfit and they'd ALL (all 30 of them) be AFK. They must've been playing a really cool version of Tower Defence or Bloons or something!

Yeah, I like this one. There was a thread about base design the other day. It would be cool to have a "leisure room" with some old arcade games (Battlezone, anyone?) or a table football game to while away some hack time, wouldn't it?

lol i dont know about a leisure room, but PS2 defiantly needs some time with some downtime. all go go action constantly isn' always good, you sometimes need something to break it up. Though with all their layers of customisation etc, it could be enough.

I know, but imagine getting taken out of your game of Defender by a bullet to the back of your head rather by running out of coins. Would add some spice imo

Sorry, I didn't mean to turn this into a discussion about mini-games. Some good ideas already (maxes can dual wield, why not grunts?), let's see what else turns up?

We're close to beta, so my intent is light-hearted rather than "zomg this must be in the game"
