Virtual Reality in PS2?

With all the recent advancements in virtual reality headsets.

Will we see Planetside 2 utilize this technology?

I hope so...

I like being able to run around in a network. Here's things I use for inspiration:

The Matrix in Shadowrun series (SNES and genesis in particular)

Being in the network in Dystopia HL2 multiplayer mod

Basically if the entirety of a base is an interconnected network, then players would jack into the network and be able to run around in digital space to turn locks on / off, hack things from the inside (like turrets), or even jump over to other networks and mess around in there.

It could work in the context of PS2, but I dunno if each base would be an isolated network or not, if each console and terminal would be a separate node or site to access, if there's a time limit, if people stand around exposed when they do it or if they are in a non-spawned state, how players defeat other players within the network, etc.

Wow. you took my question to a whole different place.

I was particularly interested in how using a VR headset to actually play the game. controller/keyboard in hand with goggles on running around killing people and capping bases.

I think it would be cool to have the extra immersion.

I would assume that if the game supports 3D monitors, then you could probably use a VR headset instead of a "normal" 3D monitor.

ahaahha I was expecting a question about the VR training. I have no idea if we can use VR headsets but tbh there a novelty item more than anything. Unless they finally use track IR with VR its just a small screen really really close to your face xD

Well, you did say "in" in the title of the thread.

I'm surprised we haven't seen more VR games TBH. With all the console hardware being thrown about you'd think it would be here already. And VR has been around for quite some time. I'm thinking that's got to be the next big step in console gaming in the near future though.
