Ok so I have my old dell 24inch which has lasted me 6 years and still going strong although I want a new screen for PS2.
What do you guys recommend? Still not sure if 120hz in 2D or the ISP screens are a better option. It's basically going to be for gaming.

There's a list of IPS panels, but I couldn't recommend one specifically. As far as 120hz vs IPS, this is how I see it... 120hz Pros: Anything in motion looks smoother. 120hz Cons: More expensive May require more expensive GPU to hit 100+ FPS* May require sacrificing graphics to hit 100+ FPS* No real benefit outside of gaming *Old games are obviously an exception. IPS Pros: Everything looks better, period. IPS Cons: Motion isn't as smooth as 120hz Now, if/when 120FPS becomes the "standard", I'll jump on one for sure, but until then the added expense and the fact that it's benefit is contingent on being able to run games exceptionally fast means it loses out to IPS for me. the Dell U2711 is near the top of the heap, but if you can wait, the new Samsung series 9 27" monitors are looking quite impressive, though expensive. I'm not a fan of TN pannels, so can't really comment on budget monitors.

Ok I'm thinking of going a dellU2711 and also going to grab another gtx580 and running in SLI.
That should do the trick to run everything at max on almost all games right? Abviously running at the highest Rez.

Lots of people are liking these 27 inch monitors due to their price. Feedback thread here.

I have a Dell U2711 on my workstation; no complaints but i don't really game with it.
Not the best for input lag but not "bad". http://www.anandtech.com/show/2922/4 Those Shimian screens look like a good deal. seems they have a good panel in them. http://www.anandtech.com/show/5885/t...d-sips-display, it would be nice to see some input lag numbers, given this is a basic model there is a good chance it wont have a scalar/img processor so could have good input lag figures.

120hz has one gotcha: Be sure to get one which is supports 120hz signal and not just 120hz refresh rate.
If the monitor is 120hz, but not 3D compatible, chances are it's of the kind which only has 120hz refresh rate, and the signal it takes is actually 60hz. Just something to look out for. Personally I would get an IPS display. If you have a bit of extra to spend, they have a really nice image quality and much wider viewing angles than most TN panel displays - especially noticeable with vertical angles as those tend to suck with TN display, requiring you to look at it from a very specific angle to get good colors. |

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824236206 Though somebody locked everyone in a room of carbon monoxide when they determined the pricing.
If any of those auction websites are real maybe you could get one cheaper or find one on ebay or somewhere else for less. I don't have this one, but I do have the normal 60hz version. And it looks like exactly the same thing except the webcam is an RF receiver. I definitely like the one I have. But I also don't have any experience to compare to other LCD monitors so...
