I really hope SOE are including Platoons into the game? If not here's a few reasons too.
My clan is partnering with others for release however we are maintaining our separate Outfit identities, and while we could just group up in mixed teams organizing each unit to strategically is harder with only 1 squad and 2 other non ui connected squads being available. Example 1 (Squads 1, 2 and 3 all have a medic each, a galaxy drop ship pilot, engineer, 2 maxes and some heavies etc) Squad 1's target is to drop on top of a facilities south west corner of the wall, and advance north towards Squad 2 clearing the hostiles along the wall. Squad 2 is to drop on the north west wall and proceed south, while squad 3 drops on a capture point. All of this is a lot harder to organize on voip compared to the platoon leader dropping 3 way points that gives the galaxy pilots their fly too locations and the squads hot drop spots. Voip can be used by the platoon leader to say s1 go north and clear, s2 go south, but try telling the galaxy pilots where to drop isn't so clear.. Example 2 Squad 1 consists of heavy tanks, Squad 2 lightnings and 3 Air to ground Support. Knowing where your platoons units are helps to keep formations and assign targets better.. |

It's funny we have to say that so much. When making a new thread it says this: "Notice: When you enter a thread title the system will search for similar threads which have already been posted. That should help you to find answers."
And then I had these results when typing in Platoons in the Title on a new thread: Although, those are some old ass threads. So the search function here needs to be updated or something? Last edited by Crator; 2012-06-28 at 05:44 PM. |

Welcome MCGKillerdog, as you can see by the warm welcome , there is a lot of information currently available on the forums and wiki. There are several search methods, the forums and wiki both have built in search as well the Google powered search at the top combines results from several PlanetSide sources.
