ATV Handling

So I been furiously driving my Fury around as a lvl 5 certless noob today and found the handling to be really annoying. But that's expected from a game 9 years young. However, the e3 footage seems to show PS2's atv mechanics as being essentially unchanged, which is unfortunate because there's so much they can do to take advantage of technological advancements.

Personally, I'd like to see steering done with the mouse, with the A and D keys being a lean in each respective direction for power drifting . This is similar to the mechanics of many bike racing games and pretty intuitive.

The problem with aiming with mouse probably is that you need to aim the weapon at the same time using mouse?

I would probably outright refuse to drive it if steering with mouse was the only options. Few games have forced that before and it's outright frigging terrible.

That said, they've said that the ATV can at least drift around, so thats improvement over PS1

It can catch air this time around too... that's a HUGE improvement.

And what aims the flexible mount/turret/viewpoint?

soo, a cert for quad bike aa gun then? i never played PS1, so idk what a bike like that can be used for:P

EDIT: mouse steering would be terrible considering you also have to aim and look around with your mouse.

it's an ATV you don't steer them, you just point them in a direction and hope you don't hit a tree/wall or mountain when you blast off at high speed
tho to be fair I've seen some pretty damn good fury drivers run amok around armour and other vehicles. practice makes deadly

ATV's were a bitch trying to control at low speeds. Once you get up to max speed, though, they were pretty easy.

Funny, I was going to suggest just the opposite.

I haven't used that thing much but I found it best not to go faster than you can handle ... say about 6 or 7 keyboard-wise.

Find a target, stop, aim, fire then move .. rinse and repeat.

Who said the ps1 atv can take to the air??

Hopefully you maintain some control over orientation in the air, as you can do with a real ATV by shifting your body weight around.

So having a break key would be freaking awesome so you have some control of inertia as you you do a jump. Would help to do powerslides around stuff too. Im all for realistic control for quads.

And then explode as it reconnects with the ground if the E3 footage is anything to go by

A question, is there going to be steering wheel and gas/break pedal support for ground vehicles. Would be pimp driving left handed while mouse aiming right handed.
