Hey all kinda rusty on building a rig and was looking for help.
1. What is your budget and does that include shipping/taxes? $1000-$1250 2. Where do you live? andover, minnesota 3. What do you need this computer to do? Gaming only. 4. What parts do you need? Everything minus the speakers monitor keyboard and mouse 5. Are you reusing any parts for this build? Nope just the monitor and stuff 6. What kind of monitor/resolution are you looking to get? I have a 22"lcd screen that came with my old gateway 7. Do you have a legit Os? No id prefer 64 bit aswell 8.what kind of features do you want the motherboard to have? whatever would be best for a good gaming set up 9. Anyplans to overclock? don't really know how to do hat. 10.what kind of timeframe are u looking for on ordering the parts? Not until september or so. Thanks in advance!! |

September? Thats pretty far out. With that I'll just say what you can expect to have due to the build having a a good chance of changing by then.
Intel Core i5 3570K Intel Z77 Motherboard 128GB-256GB SSD 500GB-1TB HDD GTX 670/7950 or at least a 7800/660 (if its out by then) 500W-600W PSU 8GB of DDR3 RAM Bump this thread when you are a few weeks away from buying all the parts and we will shape up a final build for you.

Its only a rough build. Besides he does have the budget and its rather easy to overclock these anyway.

If you have money, and you want the best cpu possible, buy the k version.
To overclock follow these steps: 1. Press power button on computer. 2. Press F11 to open BIOS screen. 3. Select CPU settings. 4. Change turboboost multiplier from 38 to 40. 5. Exit BIOS. I was literally able to overclock my i5 2500k from 3.7GHz to 4GHz by only changing the multiplier. If you have a brain, minor overclocking = free GHz |
