Im considering a pretty nice pentium 4 board by MSI the only problem i see is that it has an SiS chipset, what do you guys know about SiS? The board is: MSI 648 MAX-L SIS648 mb w/ ata133, AGP8x, USB2, LAN.
Thanks for comments and such. I will be using this with a 2.4ghz p4 most likely, if that helps.

SiS makes very good chipsets. The only issue I can think of with the SiS 648 off the top of my head is that last I heard it and the Radeon 9700 series have some juju issues. Getting a 9700 to run well on a 648 board is difficult. Don't know about a 9800 tho...

So it sounds like an ok choice to make with my gf4. Thanks for your input guys i thought i heard someone saying SiS were bas or somethin but maybe it was another company not recommended for p4's. Anyway, thanks.

Mmm. IIRC they're more of an AMD company than an Intel one. All the good SiS chipsets I've heard of were for AMD chips. Don't know much about their Intel performance. Frankly, if I were in the market for a new computer right now, I'd probably go pure Intel for the mobo chipset anyway. They seem to produce the best chipsets for their own CPUs.
