I just saw Hamma's video and I can't say how excited I am to hear that as a squad leader, you can create various support missions *that can be performed by anybody on the map*, including calling for a galaxy to come pick up your squad.
This is the kind of epic Planetside teamwork experience that the game needs (and PS1 didn't even have this stuff). Devs, please please ensure that this type of gameplay will actually be commonly used! (I need something to do after I'm too drunk to shoot) |

I'm still excited to see the mission system interface.
I want to know if its a set list of mission types and commands. Or. Can type in "Go f**k yourself" and set it to one open position. Obviously one will create problems! Last edited by MrBloodworth; 2012-07-17 at 04:53 PM. |

I can see someone accepting the mission and never coming to pick them up lol.
"Where's our transport Sir!?!?" "I'm sorry son...I don't think it's coming." Or if you have to actually pick the people up first to accept it, I can see a cloud of galaxy pilots all flying to try and pick people up before the other galaxy. Much galaxy ramming shall occur! |

Can't wait for shit like this.Imagine how awesome it will be to go into a facility. Fight for a while. Cap the base, then have a squad leader call for a Galaxy to airlift the squad to another facility. Or better yet 4 Galaxies with a couple Reavers as escort picking up a platoon fresh from an intense firefight. This friggin game is so gonna ruin my real life.I may just quit my job,get fat on skittles and mountain dew,and play PS2 all day every day. |

Many games these days force you to have to pick and choose and you really can't do just one objective if you want(Ala darkfall online you need magic). |

although this sort of game play was always available in PS1, it usually took intra-outfit co ordination..
adding in a mission system really opens it up for lone wolfers, or smaller outfits to specialize (whereas before you'dd need to be in a larger outfit to be able to specialize really).. ..this s a good thing imho my random thoughts on the potential mission system: - you accept a mission from a time / location sorted list (time is highly relevant, as a missions relevance would very very quickly expire...do you specify a mission expiry time perhaps when posting?)..ie a Gal pickup would realistically only be relevant for 5 mins or so, after which everyone would have gotten bored and bought a lightning / atv to drive over instead.. - if you complete the mission (how is this confirmed?..perhaps the mission poster has to confirm / acknowledge?), then you get good xp - if you accept the mission but fail it, you get -ve Xp (could be used for griefing?) - posting missions will probably be certable (I guess, in the command certs) - completion of a mission will be agreed by both the poster and the mission accepter(s/p?)...failure though would presumably just be determined by the poster (hence the potential for griefing). e.g. if I am leading the platoon and I decide a gal-drop is necessary firstly I'd ask if we have a gal-pilot (well everyone is so the question is to some extent moot, or maybe it will be more like 'Dave can you go back to the foothold and bring us a gal back - answer yea, omw'). Then I'd say 'coolio, I'll create a mission for it, meet us at wp1' - 'hey everyone, get to wp1 asap, gal pickup' What I'm saying is in creating a gal pickup mission I need to be able to restrict it to current platoon or squad. There's no point in me getting Dave to do the job and creating a mission that anyone cont-wide can select. The second is having decided I'll accept a gal pickup for my squad/platoon from a random (a dicey thing to do if ps1 is any guide) there needs to be a way to designate the pickup location - ie equivalent to 'pickup at wp1/2/3'.
