thats a very ignorant statement incompetent
it would be very easy for a person to play planetside just fine and have lots of fun without being on a team. just like any other games.

Psh. No one knows when it's coming out. May is the latest guess, but that's all it is. A guess.
And no, you don't have to be in an outfit. They've got a nice little matchmaking service where you can advertise yourself as wanting to perform certain tasks, and you can go looking for specific people for specific tasks. Outfits are uneccessary. Helpful, but not needed. |

Well, I'm guessing a good half of the players (if not more) won't be in an outfit (or at least well organized ones) for quite some time, if ever. So yes, the game will be perfectly fun for non-Outfitters, and non-Outfitters will be able to cap bases just fine, with some good spur-of-the-moment planning and organization.

There'll always be people needing pick-up groups. If your coming from an FPS angle then you "need to be clanned". But if you've got experience of MMOGs you'll know that you dont need to be clanned, and in fact its beneficial not to be clanned until you have an angle at what type of game style you want to play, what clan is best for you etc etc.
This is why RPGers (MMORPGers) are at an advantage. We've gone thru a levelling treadmill of pickup groups in previous games, and thou this isnt a levelling treadmill as such, there'll still be plenty of action, capping action, for those not clanned.

RPG dudes aint at advantage at all, the only 'RPG-thing' in planetside is the certs and maybe the outfits.
That's all! While FPS games aren't all as Unreal Tournament, but there are hell alot games where you have to invade a base and take something then escape - in planetside you wont even have to get out when you capped it! Like in existence (for half-life) you really needed teamwork, but you could also go on your own. As well an fps clan like those in existence have tactics, no-one is unbeatable but most are very strong! Every clan has a tactic that they start with, lose with and one they win with, an much others also. FPS will even have an advantage - i think - becus we have better aim, we got more into action, we also have played in clans (if not you gotta be real new) So what i mean: i don't understand what you're saying

Determinado did you even read what I wrote. You just saw the words "RPG" and "advantage" and decided to rant on about something totally unrelated to what I wrote.
Im talking about pickup groups, the sort of things you get on MMO games which, until Planetside has been the domination of RPG-genre games, not FPS. Therefore those who have previously played MMO games (primarily RPG if you discount WWIIO cos it sux bad) will be at a distinct advantage as they wont feel overwhelmed in a large environment they have never encountered before. becuase they will have.
In PS there is no "won", no "end", it keeps going. It will take time for FPS mentality to realise this fact.
We also play in "clans". In MMOGs we call them guilds (or outfits in PS) and also somehting which doesnt exist in FPS - groups. You can form groups to gather exp, or groups to form a particular task. Those in your group appear in yiur group bar and you can see their health, armour ETC. So grouping has its many benefits. You could form groups for a raid, and in each group you would tailor make them for certain roles, such as the capping group with hackers and medics and some heavies for defense. etc. you also have what you call pickup groups. What happens when your clan mates arent online. You need a group cos you cant lone wolf it. You call to the immediate area that you are looking for a group, and hey presto someone invites you to their group. The play system is designed for grouping, you almost have to group to do anything, the same will apply for Planetside. This mentality is earnt, not a given. FPS players on the whole will not be ready for the system shock of large encounters needing groups everyone having a specific role - unless they have played role based FPS teamplay games before.
