Peaceful Server

I'm not saying it would be permanent, but I have a query. Do you think it is possible, even for a few days, to have peace on a continent? Evenly space out the land and then have all the players cease fire. It would be incredible.

Tension would build, the boundaries would slowly line up with tanks and infantry, paranoid for an attack or intrusion. Then it would happen. Some random soldier would kill one of a different faction. Hell would break lose, tank columns would move into enemy territory while people across the continent learned of the new spark of war and then combat would again erupt!

It just seems like a cool thing to have in a game but I can only imagine it in a game like Planetside.

Thoughts?

I tried to get 20 people of all three factions together to film a movie, and even with all of them in teamspeak they couldn't go 5 minutes without killing each other, so I doubt it!

The only reason you would have that is if you needed to recover in a way, but that is not necessary in this game so the answer is no to happening and no to it being cool. If you could build stuff, had out of combat gameplay and had things to lose, then that could be possible, but I highly that will ever happen in this game.

Your scenario seems more probable in a EVE online type of game.

I'd say that right now, we are in a Cold War.(Which is essentially what you are talking about) Once those beta servers go live and everyone is invited... The real war commences. There will be no peace!

Oh I agree with you, there is no point at all to do this. I just feel like the rising tensions would be very intense until the pot boils over and war starts.

And Joe Dragon, you are very right, this is totally a cold war!

Peace is possible after everyone loses to the NC.

Let's be realistic. If the NC ever won outright, they would tear themselves apart. One group's freedom isn't in line with another group's vision of freedom... Splintering would occur and a civil war would be imminent.

If the Vanu won outright they would focus on technology to the point where they would destroy the entire human race just like the ancients did.

Only the TR have the sense of Order necessary to properly rule Auraxis and bring a lasting peace. Would it be perfect? Probably not, but it would be the foundation that would eventually lead to the Prosperity of the entire planet, just like their namesake had accomplished.

You can rarely get people on the same team to sit still for more than a few minutes without someone TK'ing someone else for fun. Just look at any base capture in PS1 where the fighting is over after the tubes/gen are blown. People who have to wait around for 10 minutes like to kill each other.

Only if your empire captures the continetnt, or in PS2 terms "foothold camps" it

I play both NC and TR on PS1, same amount of TKing happens

Only difference is, TR looks cool doing it.

NC bring the philosophy of freedom through individual rights.

VS will make the technology that will allow individual freedom through protection from those that wish to impede it.

TR look cool thus will provide the aesthetic.
