I suspect they will wait as long as possible (launch) to release official minimum specs and likely as long for recommended specs.
This is because throughout beta I would expect them to work on improving code efficiency, and so the minimum should keep going down.
SOE will want to publish the lowest possible minimum spec to open up the game to as many possible customers as they can.

But I wantz to spend my monies naow.

I'll just wait again, and no doubt end up getting into beta on Monday (against all odds) with a computer that can't handle the game.

The best we got at the moment is this tweet
http://twitter.com/j_smedley/status/222452897122754560

@j_smedley
"It is fair to say this is going to be a higher spec game than most. A core 2 duo with an 8800gt isn't going to be fun"

To me that says 8800 GT 512mb + Core 2 Duo E8600 is going to be close to the min. (ie 25fps lowest possible settings/res)

I'm used to 20 fps. 20 fps would be ok in my book and my specs are AMD 2x3000. (dual core then basically).

I just...want....to....spend.....money.....NAOW. Conscience is holding me back.

Snaffe what is your budget right now you are looking to spend. The only other card coming out this gen worth looking at is probably 660 Ti. Now if you are looking to buy in the next month no new parts are coming out besides that, so waiting isn't really going to help. Next gen cards will be here at the earliest winter time and Intel isn't having any new CPUs till spring next year.

As Mutant said, official specs for recommended and minimum requirements won't be released until shortly before the game goes live. They still have plenty of time to work on not only optimization but graphical enhancements as well.

I agree with Goku. There are no new significant GPU or CPU updates coming before beta. So just buy now. But as he said, maybe edit your OP to ask the appropriate question. HERE (see the sticky at the top of the sub-forum index)

The only reason to delay an upgrade (I think its a good reason) is to see how PS2 runs on specific hardware.

For all we know PS2 might run much better GCN vs Kepler or Bulldozer vs Ivy Bridge.

500-600 quid - so an i5 and a radeon 6xxx something probably.

How frustrating

Yeah, I was holding out for the i5 stuff last year due to getting married, then ended up being skint, so never bought one. But yeah doesn't feel like there's any game changing equipment coming out this year compared to last year's i5 (was it last year?) and the disappointment of bulldozer.

This is the frustrating bit. Like I said in another thread just now, if I take the plunge and get an i5, no doubt the benchmarks in a month's time (here's hoping) will say for the first time ever bulldozer is just AMAZING for this particular game.

Meh. Gawd.

I wouldn't hold out much hope for the bulldozer.

If PS2 by chance can fully load all 8 cores on BD it may. However that is a slim chance IMO. I don't even think BF3 pulled that one off.
