Rig Upgrade

I built a rig about 2 years back and am wondering how it will run ps2 and what would possibly need upgrading. I know the gpu will probably need to be.

2x EVGA 01G-P3-N988-TR GeForce 9800 GT HDMI 1GB 256-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V v2.2 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80

AZZA Solano 1000 Black/Black Japanese SECC Steel/Metal mesh in front ATX

ASUS P6X58D Premium LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Intel Core i7-930 Bloomfield 2.8GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80601930

16GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2000 (PC3 16000) Desktop Memory

These are my current specs. From what i have read on the cpu is that it can be overclocked close to 4ghz if properly cooled. Any insite on how my current setup will run and what i need to run it on high settings.

If you are wanting to do a single GPU and have the money I would recommend a GTX 670 as that is a good card for the money currently. We however do not know what is going to be needed to run the game in terms of settings unfortunately. Everything else in your rig looks good and does not need to be upgraded.

Yeah, you look fine in the CPU arena.
16gb seems a bit strange, though...Doesn't that motherboard do triple channel memory? I would think you'd want to be in a multiple of 3.

Anyway, a GPU is the only sane upgrade point right now, depending on your budget. Maybe an SSD after you take care of that.

Good point. Most X58 systems I see run either 6 or 12GB.

Re: Rig Upgrade

Thank you for pointing that out. I have since removed the extra stick and am at 12gb now.

Just for reference, Higby said in an interview that they were running Planetside 2 almost exclusively on GTX 670's at E3. So videos from that event should give you some indication of what you could expect from that card.
