Hey everybody.
I'm a fairly new player to PS2 in general, but i'm looking for a faction to be diehard loyal to. Granted, I know there are only 3 factions, and i'm weeding out Vanu straight away. Somehow the idea of a technologically advanced yet technology seeking faction seems kind of repetitive in the terms of "What am I fighting for?". However, I am open to both NC and TR factions. They both seem legitimate in terms of playerbase and versatility, but what is the key distinguishing factor between them? I do know most of the lore, etc. etc., but what i'm asking is: What makes them better than one another? I used to be a complete TR in the beginning of my PS2 endeavors, following up until I received my beta key on twitter. But now i'm starting to question my loyalties since i've actually done RESEARCH on each faction. NC seems like the ideal place to go since they have a cause: Freedom. It seems like TR is just a bully faction trying to put a rebellion in its place. The only thing that would be holding me back from going full blown NC is the fact that all my friends are TR. Finally, if I DO SWITCH, how would I go about convincing them to join me? |

The NC have some dubious motives. They are run by corporations and money, the backbone of their troops are mercenaries who are paid to fight, and they use "freedom" to inspire the masses to join them (Great cannonfodder!). Sure, there are good people there, and they probably want what everyone wants, but they either go too far, or do it the wrong way. Full-blown rebellion is not the solution.
We are in a new world, cut off from Earth, stability and loyalty is our best bet at the moment. We can not afford weakness.

EDIT: Besides, we teach our companions that courage is not a person with a gun, but someone willing to do what others will not (9th grade L.A. was worth something after all). Last edited by Program; 2012-07-29 at 10:07 PM. |

People would be better off with no government instead of the TR. |

From what I have read and heard, the TR fight to defend their control over the masses. The Terran 'Republic' isn't really one right now due to the military government. The laws passed so far have restricted a lot of freedoms but for what purpose I ask? Many of these restrictions came before the NC or VS came into being(actually these restrictions became key for the formation of both) and when there was no outside threat or faction to fight against. This is all about control and who gets to make the laws of the land.
The NC fight against such restrictions. Their heart comes from the many freedom fighters who want to live without oppression. Their strength comes from the many battle hardened mercenaries who have joined their ranks and their hardware comes from the many corporations who can now research without restriction to make the most hard hitting weapons available to mankind. The NC knows that the individual is important and can make a difference on the battlefield. |

NC: Corporate lackies disguising their cause as "freedom". "Corporations have neither bodies to be punished, nor souls to be condemned, they therefore do as they like."
TR: Dictator's thugs bent on bringing "order" to its people "Law and order exist for the purpose of establishing justice and when they fail in this purpose they become the dangerously structured dams that block the flow of social progress" The choice is yours really. |

Forget about the lore for a second. The lore doesn't reflect the actually prevelant nature of the irl players. NC has the nicest player base of the three factions. We have the least amount of foul-mouthed, tea-bagging hooligans of all the three empires! Where do you think the vilest FPS-only players are going? TR & VS. Because if they try NC, they'll leave. We're too nice!
