I don't like this Elitist/Hipster PC Gamer Culture coming to Planetside 2

I been on these boards since Planetside 2 was announced I belief or at least I was reading them since then.

I know a lot of Veterans were resistant to change and don't like some of the "COD" aspects or whatever.

So this is nothing new.......Except, now Planetside 2 is becoming mainstream.

We are now getting the influx of PC kids who never played Planetside 1 claiming Planetside and making the community/Game look bad by talking shit about Console shooters/BF3/COD/Halo etc.

It just ticks me the wrong way, that these people are talking all this shit while having never played the game.

I really hope SOE just ignores those fools and does what is right for the game.......

At least Veterans have an idea of what happened in Planetside unlike these new influx of fools.

I have plated all 3, and f***ing hated them. I have followed PS for years but never brought myself to subscribe or buy.

Why don't we just stop with the hate talk. Once we work together and every understands the game we should be able to combine tactical knowledge and work as a team.

Well I think people who never played the game, are just making the game/community look bad.

I don't want a bunch of COD/BF3/Halo rejects in Planetside...Quite honestly, that will be a horrible community.

It's a F2P game. You're going to have much more then just the COD/BF3/Halo crowd in the game. This definitely will cause some turmoil but I think PS1 players are used to that. MMOFPS wasn't a very common thing with the PS1 and still isn't for PS2. I'd like to think us older players know how to deal with it....

EDIT: Remember, we are going to be the minority at first here. It might get a little stupid before it gets better...

This thread is funny, because the mainstream crowd back then played Tribes 2, Unreal Tournament, Quake III, even Halo. No one complained about the mainstream crowd because there was no MMOFPS prior to that time. Planetside was built along the same lines as those 4 games, more so towards Halo in terms of raw gameplay mind.

A decade later and now they're building PS2 for the masses used to Call of Duty and Battlefield. Not seeing a problem with that design philosophy, it just makes sense to build Planetside 2 for the modern market, whether or not the decade old player base likes it or not.

The only real difference is gaming became mainstream since Planetside 1 thanks to Halo/CoD on the consoles and WoW for online gaming. More people = more ass holes, and buddy, they're on BOTH sides of the fence. The old schoolers are proving time and time again they're just as big of ***holes as the CoD/BF crowds. I can't look at the mainstream crowd in a negative light, it's just counter-productive to the sportsman like community I want to see in Planetside 2.

..all is bad in excess? Probably, but I think nope, it's the evolution of Planetside, if you like it or not, is his evolution.

I like that is F2P and that the game is getting Mainstream...

I feel like MMOFPS is the next big thing and Planetside 2 is gonna break new ground like Planetside 1 except the whole world is ready this time...This will start a MMOFPS revolution IMO.

But I don't like these Elitist PC Hipsters coming into Planetside 2 and talking shit about everybody else while using the Planetside name.

I rather have Humble Console gamers who only play halo, come and try Planetside....Than some fucking hipster DICK PC gamer, who thinks he is 1337 because he fucking plays Diablo3/ARMA 2.

Back then simple games like Quake/Unreal Tournament were great

Now we have those same fools who played those simple games talking shit about all new games saying that they are too simple....While quake/Unreal tournament were the simplest games in the world in terms of jumping in to play.....Sure to master the game was hard but that can be said about almost any game.

Thats the reason I don't like the Elitist/Hipster PC culture.....Like I said, I would much rather have humble console gamers than those idiots.

Sure the new mainstream crowd isn't great either but atleast I don't get the sense of them being assholes like I do with most of the PC community.

Also, PC Gamers are probably no worse or no better than others. I find them to be a crowd that just talks more about both good and bad things.

Well I do think I am better than the PC elitist

I don't think I am better than a humble console gamer.

You should check out the Youtube comments and how PC kids are using the Planetside name to shit on any Mainstream game.

Uhm anyways, I think that neither side is right. You need input from the older PS1 veterans to keep the game on the right path but you also need input from the newer generation to keep the game fresh. As much as I would love PS2 to simply be a re-skin of PS1 I know that that won't happen.

My only concern is that the newer generation of gamers will make up the majority of PS2 and the devs might lose focus of what makes PS great. I think in some regards, input from PS1 vets is more important over players who've never played the game, but that's not to say that someone who hasn't played won't have just as good of feedback.
