Ok, so I have a problem with the way the VS max looks. I don't know if that's its final pass or if its just a placeholder (of if its me). But it really doesn't LOOK like a "MAX" to me. Or, maybe I'm just crazy.
It looks like some guy wearing extra heavy kevlar armor that was designed more for style than combat. Like heavy assault with some extra big plating in a few spots. All of the joints look like the max pilot is wearing spandex armor. Its so thin and form fitting at the joints, there's no way for it to be motor assisted like a real exo-suit. Lets compare: TR Max: THE HULK - concept art THE HULK - in game result NC Max: The Fridge, Robots in Disguise -concept art The Fridge, Robots in Disguise - in game result VS Max: Mr Crabs - concept art Mr Crabs - in game result If you look at the concept art, the joints where hefty and similarly as bulky as the rest of the armor. The plated sections where visually enhancing specific muscle and bone groups without over contrasting the size of between them and joints or less plated areas. But what we get in game is something akin to a literal crab. Plated sections surrounded by thin stringy jointed limbs and large claw shaped hands. :P Visually, as a whole, it doesn't seem as intimidating as the concept art (or as awesome). Its more crustacean than wicked robot. So, am I cross-eyed or are other people seeing this to? Is the lighting just off (according to another profile picture with massive lighting, the legs aren't as bad, but only with very bright lights)? The color scheme to contrasting? The flipping crazies? Just seems like the suit would fall to the ground like so much clothing, if there wasn't a person inside to hold it up. Less like an exo-suit, and more like a suit suit. Heavy assault with bigger plates. On its own it has nothing rigid to support its own weight and provide the mechanical enhancements their designed for. It is a bit of a nit pick, I will admit. But its the only thing that's ever rubbed me the wrong way when I looked at it. edit: I'm not saying the whole suit needs to be bulkier, I'm just saying that there are parts that are TOO thin, even for a slender VS mech suit. The panty-hose he's wearing on his arms sure seems like its providing support to hold up those guns and for-arms. Last edited by Justaman; 2012-07-30 at 02:45 PM. |

There was already a enormous thread on this subject http://www.planetside-universe.com/s...light=vanu+max But I have to agree, something happened in the transition from concept art to in game graphics.

How do you find out other peoples opinions? You ask. But I guess in your world that's called crying. Go back to your corner plz, if you don't want to be constructive. I'm fine being proven wrong, in fact I would love that, but this was my first opinion and was looking for consensus on my thoughts. Annnnd discussion~ Last edited by Justaman; 2012-07-29 at 09:12 PM. |

The Vanu max redesign is one of the reasons why I plan on playing TR. Along with the Vanu infil design. TMNT henchmen or..... weird 1.21 gigawats helmet? Dr.Doom or..... Mr.Krabs? |

Looks like what I expected; elegant and still deadly. No need for the clunky armour, our manhoods don't need a boost from big guns and armour either. Just the way i like it, I'll let you lesser apes go about in your difficult suits, trying to puff out your chest in order to look bigger than the others... Primitives.
/roleplay But really, I like them! VS design is what I found the most intriguing about the faction. They have a certian... panache. No need for flair, with a "we can kill you with a knife when you need to use a sword" type of thing. |
