Vehicle damage?

Well I watched Totalbiscut's E3 coverage and it seemed like every single vehicle takes damage too easily. For instance, a tank hitting an object at a very slow speed and boom, a third of its health gone. Or there was a clip of a liberator trying to land, it was low health and hardly moving at all. The second it tried to land it just blew up from the slight impact of even touching the ground.

Was that just the fact the game was still in alpha or should I expect all vehicles to just be more fragile than glass when it comes to bumping into the terrain?

Probably more so to do with wonky alpha physics rather than intended game decisions.

Ya, I can't see them keeping it that way indefinitely. From what we've seen, a single miss-step at a moderate speed is a large amount of damage. Which is silly considering tanks are just giant bricks of steel.

Remember guys, we're JUST getting into beta. What we've seen till now was ALPHA. So take EVERYTHING with a grain of salt. It's all up in the air till we get down to balancing things in beta.

well, realism wise - try to run a 60 tons of steel into an object like a big BIG boulder that wont move that easily, the amount of energy created on impact can severely damage the tank. Ive been a tank driver in the army and ive seen cases where something as simple driving through fast through wavy ground and ending up with "minor impacts" damaged the tracks, wheels, main gun stabilization, weapons electronics.

to name a few - i personaly managed from a jump that was only about 3 meters far to rupture a fuel tank, damage engine electronics and the cooling system

and it was a good german leopard 2A5 :|

i mean ofc it doesnt happen all the time, but it does happen often enough to keep maintenance busy

well iam pretty sure that even futuristic vehicles are bound by the laws of energy and motion, you smartypants :|
i was basicly stating that there is no reason to assume that a major impact with a vehicle SHOULDNT damage it. At least it prevents those vehicle stunt artists to drive tanks in on and through cliffsites

Exactly. I wasn't saying it "shouldn't" damage it either. It just shouldn't cause damage equal to what happens if you crushed a tank like a pop-can on your forehead.

They said that the impact damage at E3 was too high and since then it has been reduced so now it isn't that high, it is possible to land without taking damage etc.
