Don't worry. We didn't yank without filling the holes. The systems that are in place are considered superior to the systems they replace or we wouldn't have put them in. I think you'll see that they're much more flexible and allow you to focus on the combats themselves which, of course, are the point of the game.

Good idea about the chat label.
We have some of that in already (indicators to let you know about commanders), but that's one of those obvious ones we didn't do yet. <jots it on a list for later>

Thanks.

Commanders can assign jobs to squadmates. Whether they DO those tasks will depend on what relationship the commander has with his troops.
Plus, it's very easy to request tasks, accept or decline tasks, or even mention that they're completed by using voice macros.

We're still working to find that fine balance between "building" the character and being able to change the role (i.e. your specialization). As you folks already know, you will be able to unlearn certifications, which frees you up to pursue other specializations. It won't be instant, and there may be other considerations in terms of time, but we are trying to find that proper balance.

*** Topic: How will water work? ***

Armor and vehicles sink (no swimming) except for hover vehicles (which can stay on top of the water for short periods of time) and the Deliverer, which has an amphibious mode.
If you stay underwater too long, you will drown. If you drive/fly your vehicle underwater, you will get stranded as your vehicle ceases to function after a bit underwater.

Physics also gives you drag underwater, so be careful with your oxygen down there. It might be farther to shore than you think.

The current driver of a vehicle is the "owner" of that vehicle. That owner has lots of vehicle permissions at his disposal, including things like who can get into the vehicle in the first place (self, squad, outfit, or empire), who can get into the trunk, AND you can even kick people out of your vehicle at will, if needed.
Should be sufficient, I think.

No. The Vanu MAX is actually quite a bit lighter than other MAX's from other empires. You might be able to do a bit of damage from altitude, but I don't think we'll see any serious DFA's due to mere collision.

I confirm. Solo gameplay is absolutely supported. You may have trouble doing things like capturing a base without a squad, but there's lots to do on your own.

Topic: The "Who the hell are you to be commanding me" types?

SmokeJumperPS

Remember...you can only get CEP if you are the leader of a squad that successfully captures a base facility.
What that means (regarding this discussion) is that you have to be a person that others will ALLOW to be the leader of a squad. This can either be because you're friends with those folks, you're a natural leader, or you're just a good con man and fooled folks into thinking you're competent.

But to achieve HIGH command rank, you'll need to do that a LOT. What this means is...if you aren't a reasonable human being, that other folks are willing to follow, then you won't achieve high command rank.

If you don't achieve high command rank, then you can't annoy people with stupid commands. However, if you DO achieve high command rank, then you're probably one of those people that takes it seriously and you will be a commander that folks will actually listen to.

On the other hand, if a moron does manage to make it to high command rank (somehow), then there is always the /ignore chat option so you don't have to listen to him...but that shouldn't need to happen very often.

Thoughts?
