Jetpack Nerf

It's not in the patch notes but light assault players will feel the difference. Some say it's a 10-20% reduction in fuel. The feel I get is that in addition to reducing the thrust, they also lengthened the time it takes to begin regenerating power when you still have power left to equal the length it takes to regenerate when you had no power. This allowed you to travel far in terms of horizontal distance. Not so anymore I feel.

The result is less height and distance, and less ability to jetpack in and out quickly, which I use a lot to survive when for instance I pop on a balcony and am suddenly face to face with a MAX.

Personally I think it was unwarranted, though I suspect the devs are just toying around with it.

Thoughts?

I never thought of the jetpack as OP or never saw anyone complaining about it. I thought it was at a good spot in terms of where you were able to get to.

What Roidster said makes sense.

I agree... Might be a bug with this patch though.

As someone said it's likely the framework for certifications beginning.

I didn't see anything in the patch notes about this. Sunrock could be right about it being a bug.

But even so... The way it was was good for starting. Lower then that is not needed. At least for how long the fuel last.

ya i just checked, the certs have not been implemented yet, they just might be trying to figure out what is a good baseline for the jump jets, just like back in tech test, you could play with all kinds of attachments for weapons, and when beta started they took them away,so maybe this is SOE thinking when it comes to the jump jets

I never felt like the jumpjuts were that imbalanced, but i suppose it's fine if they want to put a bit of wiggle room in the performance for certifications.

You now have to choose between forward or upward thrust. Accelerating forward will slow your upward acceleration. You can jump about the same high straight up from a standing start, and you can jump farther sideways with a running start, but you can no longer get as high as you could while moving sideways.

Absolutely unwarranted, certs should have given you more, not allow you to get back to par.

The game is not final, there is no par or nerf. Things should be lacking to encourage certs. If things are fine without certing, then why have certs at all?

Par meaning what it was before, and to be more specific, what it was before wasn't quite strong enough/enough fuel, so certs should have added to that. Now I'm concerned that certs will only get us back to where we were.

I don't actually think that will happen since the nerf wasn't THAT much, but you never know until you know.

Less fuel, less thrust, and slower recharge. I wouldn't say they "suck" now as they're still useful, but they definitely suck compared to the old ones. I'd hope full certifying in jet packs takes you to a point beyond the old jets not just to the previous capabilities.
