these are the requirements, though i dunno what this stuff means im not a computer wiz,.

* 1.0GHz CPU
* GF2 w/64MB Vram

* A nice soundcard

now our new computer will have this...

Intel Caleron processor 2GHz, 40Gb hard disk drive, 256Mb RAM, CD-RW drive, 17" CRT monitor, Broadband, Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition.

If this is a computer company that specializes in making PC's, then I'd double check the graphics card. It's the only info you didn't provide us, but I think that it should run PS ok. Not the best, but adequate.

If u want to play it great get some more RAM, like 512, not 512+ ram, 256 ram so you got 512.
Then you should be able to play it properly.
Also Radeon9500 is good, or that may not be the name, just something like it. Maybe sentrosi can help you on that one

I know that Zatrias is pro-ATI, and I'll get on that same bandwagon. I would recommend that, if you have the $, get the 9500 pro 128MB video card($178 via pricewatch.com), or get at least the GeForce4 TI 4200 128MB Video card ($135 via pricewatch.com). The choice is up to you.

Not a bad system.

The first thing you need to do is drop another 256 MBs of RAM in there. A Radeon 9500 Pro is a good way to go for a vid card upgrade, and you'll be able to save a few more pennies once the 9800 is released. Have you already ordered this PC? I'm not a big fan of the Celeron's, but I guess there may not be anything you can do about it.

You should be ok.

^ Agreed, Celeron's are very poor for gaming (and for most things ) I don't like them either.

You might want to check that that new Computer actually posseses an AGP slot, I know some people who have been fleeced in the past, as has been said Radeon 9500Pro or 9700Pro as over there in the states there doesnt seem to be a big price difference

256Mb is bare minimum today, especially with Win XP, you will struggle with 256Mb - 512Mb is entry nowadays, however you can always upgrade at a later date

what graphics card will it have?

the rest of it will run it ok'ish - the lack of ram may cuase the game to be sluggish or load slow - however I am not sure, you will only know when you get the game.

Yeah, a lot of it will come down to the graphics card/processor... and if they're NOT listing what kind of GPU they have in the computer's description, worry. That's a sign that they're sneaking crap into it. Call/email the company and demand to know what kind of graphics card it has, if the magazine doesn't list it.

Yeah, atleast 512 ram. You will have some slowdown in XP with only 256, so imagine how PS will play with only 256.

It depends on what kind of graphics card it has. I am looking at the PC you posted right now, and there is not one thing about it's graphics card, which leads me to believe it has on-board graphics, and that won't play Planetside.

Then again, I don't see graphics cards listed on any of their systems, even the highest priced PC.
