Anyone know what settings I should tune in game to get the best gain in performance without sacrificing too much of the lovely looking game?
My computer upgrades are complete having gone from a 2.7 GHz dual core, 4gb RAM & Nvidia 9500 GT to a 3.4 GHz quad core, 8gb RAM & nVidia 660Ti. I was playing before with 1366 x 760 (or something) with everything on low and getting a just about playable 15-25 fps. That became 40-70 with the new gear. I obviously instantly flicked to the more optimal 1920x1080 (which isn't up for discussion!) and medium graphics. I've sacrificed shadows -> low and models -> low and getting something like 20 FPS in the warpgate to around 40 in the open. It all kinda depends what's going on. I really just need to hit a stable 30 to be happy. I know they have more optimisation to do though. What settings would you change? I'm guessing lighting -> low would help, but I love the lighting effects in PS2 |

I'm not sure you can sacrifice more then that other then turning down the settings to low.
But I'm surprised that you get that bad FPS at 1920x1080. I run the game in 1920x1200 with everything on high + physX on, at a FPS between 30-90 (30 FPS when there are 50+ fighting around me and there is allot of explotions and what not on the screen (average FPS around 50-60)). I have i5 2500k 3.3 Ghz, 8GB RAM and a GTX 680 with 2GB video-RAM. Sure you have a slightly lower end PC build but not by that mush for sure. Maybe its something hardwar related... Sure you have enough cooling? What motherboard do you use? Last edited by Sunrock; 2012-09-12 at 05:27 PM. |

My new setup is detailed here: http://www.planetside-universe.com/f...splay.php?f=19 Bear in mind the processor is an AMD Phenom 965 and the RAM is DDR2 1066. But they should still handle stuff well. |

Make sure to get the latest Nvidia beta drivers, it made a big difference for me with a 550ti. After that you can dedicate physX to the GPU and you should see an improvement. I'm certainly no expert but doing that definitly gave me a boost in FPS.
