I think the original Planetside was ahead of its time. Considering the size and the scope of the game its unlike anything out there. Find yourself a good outfit and enjoy the ride. When you get all these players in coordinated attacks it is amazing. The original Planetside did have a definite zerg/lemming mentality but it ebbed and flowed like a true battlefield. I hope you get to experience it with PS2.

As a long time BF player loggin over 10,000 hours in the franchise PS2 in it's current state is giving me as much fun as a combintation of Desert Combat mod/BF2142 would and more on a huge scale.
BF3 is a shallow game...looks pretty aside from the blue and the sun glare but that's about it. Not to mention DICE has gone batshit crazy with how they are treating their customers and choosing another customer by changing their brand and denying it at every turn. Not to mention they are complete egomaniacs. Last edited by VaderShake; 2012-09-26 at 11:50 AM. |

Whereas with PS2, I really like the fact that I feel as if I am fighting for a cause, something much bigger than myself. Where if I capture or defend that crucial base it can have some lasting consequences. And the epic scale of the conflict - awesome. So for me: PS2 >> BF Edit - and if you like robots, you could always try out a MAX Last edited by psijaka; 2012-09-30 at 04:17 AM. |

I'm a BF3 fan. I still play BF3 a lot, but while some aspects of PS2 are similar, it's a different play style and mind set you have to get into.
Like psijaka said, BF3 is split between game matches, so eventually you win a match by playing the objective, and sometimes you'll lose. In PS2, it never ends. You can take an objective, but then you have the task to go and take new objectives and try to defend the ones you already have, which leads to huge battles that might take a while to win or lose, especially if it's a large base you're trying to take. So basically, it's a never-ending match. Also, in BF3, you can easily get away with "lone wolfing" it and not necessarily being a team player. In PS2, while you can possibly do this to take an objective, you definitely won't succeed much with a "lone wolf" mentality. You'll need to work together with your faction and your squad/teammates within your faction, so communication is highly recommended. Some aspects of BF3 and PS2 are similar, but even those similarities, a lot of the time, are stretched farther than what is required in BF3. As long as you can get used to these, then making the switch isn't too bad, though, I still have a lot to learn about the game myself. |
