If you own the location the air pad clamps will grab onto your Galaxy as you land and clamp it into place. My initial idea was that this would make it easier to park a GAL on the air pad while maintaining high speeds upon landing.
If you're attacking the location a hacker must get to a console to control the air pad clamps to allow their empire's GAL to use the clamps. Another suggestion made for this was to require the hack to occur in order to enable the spawn point on the GAL when parked on a tower with clamps engaged. On the flip side, someone else said to make the enemy clamps disable the spawn function unless someone performed the hack. This would allow the GAL spawn function outside of the clamps on a tower.
