We were back capping some VS trying to slither into our territory and we capped 3 bases in a row with marginal difficulty.
We came capped the last base and had planned on moving on to the next. However the vanu got smart and started rolling tanks at us. Which is fine, we were a basic all Infantry force of about 20 to 30 of which tanks were the perfect counter. Now, it would've been fine had these tanks attempted to take the base away from us by moving in. Obviously I can under stand they would've taken heavy losses and it wouldn't have been fine. But Instead they just sat out of the heavy assault rocket range (as in too far away to effectively lead the target.) I'm not blaming the tanks for not driving to their deaths against, which had become 20 heavy assaults trying to hit strafing mag riders from around 300 meters. (pretty comical actually) What it becamse was just a kill farming exercise that, without a 10 minute armour exodus from a base roughly 4 hexes away, was unable to be countered. Eventually people just left because it became pointless to try and move on from that point. They never stepped one foot into the base and more than likely capped it through a battle of boredom attrition. I'll have a more specific point of which I'm talking later. And then what started as 2 tanks camping for kills became around 8 once they figured out that we had no way to respond with armour or use terrain to get close to them. TLDR -- Some of the bases need to be rethought as to whether or not they deserve terminals with the ability to spawn empire main battle tanks. Last edited by Yenni; 2012-09-28 at 02:24 AM. |

Your missing the big picture, we didn't run all infantry because we wanted to (albeit some of us, I'm sure, did)
We HAD to run all infantry, because the last base that built anything bigger than a atv was 4 bases back. |

Logistics beat you guys out. They came up with an effective counter. Your strategy should have been to retreat and come back with either air support or tanks.
Not thier fault you didn't respond as you should have. |

4 bases back? That must have been a region pretty sparse on Towers. Sounds like the Northeast... near the East Checkpoint. Very few towers over there.
But that's why we have logistics. Get your guys in an armor column and begin your trek back to the action. Enjoy. Just be glad it's not real life, because then you'd have to do this all the time. Not to mention dying. |

The OPs point is, by the time you run back 4 bases and put together a armor column and try to counter, you have lost 2 or more of the bases you just took...I see no problem with adding a tower or two to be able to spawn armor.

Here's the the thing, I understand the need for logisitics, but as far as having a balanced continent for all 3 sides goes, this is a real problem. This also isn't the first time this has happened in this area. Also in response to not doing the right counter. This...is...my...point. There was no effective counter. I don't even really have a problem with them trying to farm kills off the base with the tanks. If the force is overwhelming then they should take the base. But they were, for lack of a better word, camping. With no counter. |

Can we at least use the right language in this discussion? The closest tank spawn was 3 "territories" away. Those territories were "outposts" that could not spawn tanks.
I don't feel there is a problem here. Granted, it sucks for you that the nearest tank spawn was so far away, you could have spawned your armor and then advanced it together. A few territories distance is not very far to drive and if you draw lines between all the territories with tank spawns, it's not very far. I'd be willing to guess that had those same enemy tanks been outside the gates of your base, those same friendly players who threw one tank at a time at them would have done the same. Liberators would do wonders against that armor.

It was just so...depressing to come all that way, resecuring territory, to then get stymied by 6 guys in tanks. Patch just came in, so we'll see how that works out. Also it may have something to do with me playing with 35 kb/s connection. Ahwell. |

Character wipes are just happening too often, a month after the games launch shit like this won't be so much of an issue because all the HA will be holding SKEP tracers. Tanks will have to back up so far as to become useless.

I have to say though, this is beta, character wipes are to be expected. Shoot, if they wiped the chars everyday, we'd have no right to complain. |
