everyone knows the group that practices together, stays alive longer and will live to have songs written of their deeds...
well...ok, maybe not but with that in mind how do you see training with your group or PA? trial by fire? just take some missions and try to figure it out? is there a training area where groups can do dry runs of raids and assaults? opinions?

I think in a game of this magnitude in order to train effectively somethings do need to happen by way of organized practice. 1) In order to come up with some specific things like formations and things you need to do some research. For example: How many missile shots does it take to destroy a vangaurd? or What is the blast radius of the hand grenade? These things can help you plan equipment (ammo?) and formations... your mind really can run wild with this. 2) practicing tatics and go codes are going to be a must.... each part of the outfit must work independantly from one another to achieve the same goal.... that doesn't mean the team isn't working together.... what it does mean is each branch knows it's job and can execute with little chat..... this leave space for the important chat. 3) Every army needs to move swiftly and decisively.... by practicing tatics it will facilitate this and also get the command structure to know each other and for commanders to gain their units trust. 4) Setting standards for intel and other operational procedures. What you want you skeeters to look for and in what way to present it ie: #armor, automated defenses, patrol activity, visible infantry?, aircraft? of course the more specific the better.
Noone will be 100% prepared for what this game will throw at them and some trial by fire is not bad. I think a dedication excellence will win the day in PS rather than "run around with your head cutt off cowboy tatics" |

Well I know what im doing when it comes to training... its back to bootcamp for my Outfit! What IM gonna do is be the guy who yells at evryone! Im gonna have people in squadrens (maby groups for more contained learning) and have live frendly fire activities. We will learn formations plus many other things and if somone is screwin off I will personaly bolt them to a wall... (cuz you done get pentalized for killing your own group)

You can. In the Dev Chat where Dave first mentioned it he said the VR training area was for people that just have to get a few certs before they go out into the real world and fight.
You just can't stay in there your whole life and expect to get many BEP's |

hmmm...thanks for that.
yeah, I think I'm one that might want to at least get certified vehicle training a wee bit before venturing out. if anything I dont want to have to A.T. my way to the battles. (A.T. = alternate transportation..aka hitchhike)

I think it really depends on what you start out with.
I mentioned this a while back, but I think durring charecter creation you should be given one cert, or the first cert should be really easy to get in battle. Nobody wants to be stuck with just a pistol running around on foot until they can get a cert. That was if you plan on being a tank driver, you can certify in it and get your BEP's doing the thing you want to be doing. If not then chances are a lot of people will be useing the VR training centers. We won't even be able to hitch hike until some0one get's a cert in some form of transportation. |
