I have a quetion about the infiltration armor.
When a person wearing the infiltration armor is clocked can u hear their footsteps? If you could couldn't someone simply get audio amplifier and get almost the same benifits as darklight vision with out the sideffects? just wondering because this would make darklight vison almost useless in comparison to audio amplifier (that is if u dont mind looking at your radar all the time ) |

Yes you can hear their footsteps. The audio amplifier doesn't give that big of an advantage its still hard to kill a stealther if you can't see him on the screen. Its hard to aim when you have to keep looking back to the radar.

Yes, you can hear their footsteps, and Audio Amplifier will pick them up on radar for you.
As for Audio Amplifier being superior to Darklight Vision, that depends. If the infiltrator isn't moving, you will have no idea where he is (assuming you didn't see/hear him moving before). With Darklight Vision you'd be able to see an infiltrator sitting still in a corner somewhere, while Audio Amplifier would give you absolutely no clue that the guy is there. Not only that, but Audio Amplifier only shows them as a dot on your radar. While this would be enough for most, if you're another infiltrator you're going to have a tricky time hunting enemy infiltrators using Audio Amplifier. If you shoot at them and don't hit them, you reveal your location and your presence in general, and that may get you killed. Darklight Vision removes those uncertainties. Of course, there are some big drawbacks with Darklight Vision, namely the limited visual range it imposes when active, but I think that's a fair tradeoff for being able to easily spot and kill any infiltrators in the immidiate area. |

Yeah, smart infiltrators will probably wear the silent run implant to muffle their steps so they won't show up on the radar of anyone with the audio amplifier. Also, it is my understanding that the audio amplifier only picks up steps if you are moving rather fast/running. If you walk slowly, I'm pretty sure your steps won't be heard, although that is largely speculation there, so take that with a grain of salt.
For detecting cloakers, darklight is much better. But it is limited to only detecting cloakers, and reduces your vision in the process, whereas the audio amplifier will detect anyone without silent run and place them on your radar, and it doesn't handicap you in any way, unless you count stamina drain as a handicap, which darklight probably does as well. I hope the above post is understandable... /me stumbles to bed |
