Is it just me, or is there some sort of filter on the in-game voice chat?

Everyone I have encountered in the game who uses the in-game voice system sounds like they are recording their voice with a potato. I'm beginning to suspect the game puts some kind of filter on peoples voices to emulate the sound of military voice communication in movies and stuff like that.

Yeah, thats why i turned off proximity chat and just use teamspeak. I got annoyed with either music being played, or people sounding really weird and stupid. Didn't the devs say the ingame chat would be a better option than teamspeak? Because right now i am not seeing it.
