Chain-Gun

Anyone, else get killed while trying to change weapons (between the chain-gun and missile launcher). I use the grounder and the chain-gun and often get killed while trying to switch between them. It is a good 3.5 seconds before the first bullet flies switching between the weapons. The 3.5 seconds includes the time it takes the barrel to get up to speed.

My question is why have this shot delay?
A jackhammer and lasher both fire the second you pull the trigger. If the weapon damage for the TR is low, but out rate of fire is high, isn’t that enough? I have learned to adjust for the most part but in my opinion this is an unnecessary delay.

All Chain guns spin up. Its part of the trade off for the amount of bullets you are about to belch.

This is the future.

Also, the Thunderbolt IIs autocannon (it is rotary) doesn't have to spinup, nor does the chain cannon on the Apache heli.

And fuck all that, because the TR MAX's dual cyclers don't have to spinup either. Nor does the mossies autocannons.

MCG didn't have to spinup in PS1 either. It was also underslung and awesome. Alas, these things we simply cannot have.

Chaingun != rotary barrel. Thank Doom for that particular misconception.

The term "chaingun" refers to the driving mechanism. The M230 on the Apache is a single-barreled weapon with nothing to spin. The GAU-8, on the other hand, is driven by the hydraulic system and a pair of electric motors. Getting the ~150 horses to drive a zero-spinup weapon should be trivial in the mysterious future. I suspect it's strictly a design preference.
