Jackhammer, MCG and Lasher

I'm really anxious to try these guns out. Since there is no VR training room, seem scarce on the battlefield and I haven't saved up enough to purchase one, I'm left wondering.

Can anyone post their thoughts and opinions on these iconic weapons? Shots to kill? Effective range? Sounds? Hip firing effectiveness (actually hip-firing seems rather poor here compared to ps1, even with the laser dot)?

One thing I still find disappointing is that I cannot use these with a light load out, which was my bread and butter in ps1.

well, just like the MCG of planetside 1, the new heavy assault MCG version for TR seems to be the must have weapon for them. I think they're all packing it now.

As for the jackhammer, from what I hear, you might as well just get the regular shotgun and use it on all your classes instead of one.

It's very idiosyncratic and nothing like the MCG of old.

I don't think many people are using it.

There is a wind up and 1v1 the wind up means you're dead before you have a chance to get a shot off. The trick apparently is to keep tap firing constantly so that the wind up is eliminated.

I don't like it, I get more kills as engy.

Your username has to be the same word repeated twice to post in here!

Okay, I've ran into a lot of MCGs lately and they tear through me. Still can't hear a distinct sound over the dun of other sounds, but that thing is a beast at close ranges.

Haven't seen a lasher yet.

Edit: lol.

Lasher=Atrocious :S
There are plenty of videos on the Lasher (some not exactly helpful) on youtube, but all of the uploaders say it is simply useless.

I never played PS1, but I was hyped for it. It seems all these new guns need work, but I'm not too surprised.

Lasher is just bad atm. Max range is right around 15m. Any farther and you do 0 damage, you wont even hit the target. Its supposed to be a beam weapon but you can clearly see when it "hits" the target/surface, basically its using bullet mechanics disguised as a beam. The AOE it has can be somewhat useful if there are no friendlies near you and if the target isn't point blank range because the AOE can hurt yourself and friendlies.

The Lasher has a lower Rate of Fire(ROF) when hipfired, but if you Aim Down your Sights(ADS) the ROF increases making it a decent weapon in the right situation. The only problem is that while you are in ADS mode, you don't move as fast and your mouse sensitivity is lower. This makes you an easier target to hit and makes it harder to hit faster moving targets who will most likely hipfire in close quarters situations.

Apparently they're completely redoing the Lasher. I have not heard anything about this but someone on the main forums assured me that SOE mentioned something about remaking the Lasher. I asked for his source, he said he couldn't provide and told the people asking for proof to "calm dowwwwn". I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I like the MCG, like you said tho, it helps to continually tap the trigger to keep the barrels rolling.
