The Reverse Maneuver

So I made this video demonstrating a maneuver I discovered in tech test, slipped my mind to throw it PSU's way.

Sorry about the terrible quality, I have a terrible upload rate and low patience when it comes to uploading.

Bear in mind this is possible with ESF's, not exclusively the reaver.

That was absolutely beautiful. It's like the power sliding in PS1 without having to warp to accomplish it.

As someone who is trying to learn the ropes of piloting in this game, I've got to ask how you are pulling this off?

From the looks of it, you're up-thrusting durning a near ninety degree roll while lifting or dipping the nose...

Your pitch control outmuscles your yaw control by almost 5-to-1 in a stock ESF. Your fastest way about is always hard pitch. Downward lateral thrust will help maintain airspeed during the snap.

...Bwah?

...That sounds like a fast way to flip and reverse but, considering I'm not up to rolling over, also a good way to crash as well...

As someone who mostly focuses on ground targets, I was more interested in the sliding bank.

You can do it from any orientation. Down thrust is relative to your wing axis. If you don't want to lose altitude, snap roll 90 first.

Reminds me of Vipers doing that in BSG.

Re: The Reverse Maneuver

Thanks guys

You can do it in a gal, just without much speed. A lib you ruin the momentum the moment you hit AB because for some reason it shoots you forward regardless of your thruster direction.

Not gonna give it away just yet, making a tutorial video but I will say that your descend button has absolutely nothing to do with this maneuver.

I'm guessing that there are a lot of certs put into vertical thrust... Maybe, lol, I have no idea.

I can't seem to pull it off in the Scythe. At least the flying backwards part. I think the nature of the Scythe makes it kill nearly all momentum as you change direction. Maybe I am doing it wrong? However rolling 90 degrees then diving while hitting the vertical thrust will turn you around 180 degrees real quick.

I can't fly to save my life. I think i need to adjust the sensitivity on my mouse, i have to roll it for miles to just make a 90 degree turn.

Afraid you are indeed doing it wrong, scythes do it fine.
