Does anyone think that SOE will come up with a preload before the game goes live?
I can't describe what a fuck up it is not to have thousands of people ready to click 'PLAY' as soon as it goes up.

Smed' said "No" a while back.
John Smedley @j_smedley There will unfortunately be no pre-loading day 1. sorry. unavoidable for a lot of reasons. 9:57 AM - 16 Nov 12 Some folks will get their DL from Steam at least, might help with demand a bit. Last edited by Piper; 2012-11-17 at 08:26 AM. |

http://www.planetside2.com/countdown ....the site comes up, we all start DLing (Steam or official site) and we all get the chance to start paying them $'s for subscriptions, and the first people in after the DL get a chance to nab names (if they didn't use Alpha squad). Of course exactly what happens with Pro7 or any of the other franchise stuff, who knows. Anyone with an old Sony Station account who played Ps1 gets to be an SoE customer as far as I know, or choose to opt into Pro7 later. |

Ok. I really hope that I can download this game within 3-4 hours and play late into the night.
Anyone found out how big the game is going to be?

the system requirements say to have 15gb of free hard drive space. these requirements usually ask for a few extra gigs for future patches and such so I'm guessing around 10-13 gb? Somewhere around there if I had to ball park.

I don't mean to crush your hopes, but I would just plan on skipping the release. The first day of such events is usually just chaotic. Nothing works, everyone has problems and noone has fun. Just skip the first day, get a good book/movie and log in a day later. It will save you a lot of trouble. As they say: Never play on patch day.

good point. launch day will be hectic. this is true for every mmo. I always find it funny that people flip out the first week of a game's launch because they have to be in queue or it's too laggy. I understand it's frustrating but it's just one of those things you have to sort of expect.

PS2 and forgelight were expensive to make, and Sony isn't doing too well financially. They probably want to start seeing a return on their investment. |

When the counter reaches 0 their servers will melt from all the people downloading it...
I'll be getting my copy via Steam though, been getting good download speeds on all major releases in the last couple of months. |
