K/D ratio 444.1 ?

On my server (Woodman) there's someone near the top of the leaderboard with 888 kills and 2 deaths...

I am humbled in the presence of such l33t skillz...

I think the leaderboards are buggy currently.. half my outfit has crazy k/d ratio on people where I'm sure it's wrong

(However, it's of course possible to achieve this. In a good squad, or grabbing yourself a nice chunk of spawning enemies on a randomly placed sunderer, etc.. it'll normalize on the people that really have such a k/d though)

i Was told specifically by a guy on the leader boards (thepurplebaron) that the k/d ratio is in fact bugged. Apparently it changes wildly when people login and logoff at times.

And frankly though, while a solid 20-30 k/d ratio is possible, and increadible impressive, getting 444 k/d ratio is borderline impossible. even if you avoid the enemy killing you, your chances of spawning and falling through the map, spawning and dying instantly, or simply being shot by your team mate, are far to high for such a k/d rate to actually happen.

I was confused about this too. I watched thepurplebarons stream after he explained the bugs to me, and he was by far the best pilot i have seen (he also claimed to have the highest real k/d on matheson of around 20).

I know a person in my outift who would frequently go on 100-200 kill streaks in his decked out mag in beta. 444 sounds a little buggy but there are very skilled vehicle players who can rack up some epic kill streaks.

I find it incredibly lame that K/D is given such prominence in a team based game.

Oh so they never got around to fixing the leaderboard bug, huh? If it's the bug I'm thinking about then it goes all wonky when someone logs off.

I don't think its given any prominence really, but i agree.

K/D means absolutely nothing.

Any retard can sit on a hill for 6 hours with an ammo pack and a lock on AA missile launcher and go 200/0.

Or camp somewhere with a bolt driver and go 200/0.

The game is about taking bases. You don't take a base by camping somewhere getting a good K/D ratio.

Mine is around 2.3ish, i play Light Assault and Heavy Assault almost exclusively and i push for points.

I wish you could opt out of stat tracking, cos even though I know it means nothing it still aggravates me when I'm having a bad day and I know my k/d is going down.. like just now, when I played for 4 hours and got about 60-70 certs. Playing the skyguard and engi isn't that good for points it seems.

It's pathetic I know but I can't help it, I stopped playing 2142 cos I'd inadvertantly done well for a while then couldn't take the constant nagging irritation of knowing my decent k/d was slowly dropping!

Yeah, it's pretty bad. In Battlefield, deaths affected the ticket system, but are they at all involved in base capture mechanics in Planetside? If I'm looking at a player's stats I'm more concerned with total points, and total kills, to determine what ratio of total points came from support actions.

....That's not to say MAXs and Heavy Assaults shouldn't be killing.

Assists give xp also, but I would not count those as 'support'.
