Why is this game so fucking hard to play?

Finally get a friend who is willing to play so his game keeps crashing, why? 360 controller being plugged in apparently crashes the game. Then he has problems with it displaying ##UI and no text which it used to do to me in beta.... they still haven't fixed it? So I told him to switch the language and back again.

I mean by this point he said the game is rubbish without even bothered to play it and I don't blame him, so he gave up. It took awhile of convincing to try after he given up with Hitman Abs crashing all the frigging time, which it does to me too, thanx Nvidia. Most normal people would have just uninstalled and said the game sucks, luckily I'm here to convince him.

So finally we get in but there is some server queue bug with it saying 0 and calculating and it wont resolve itself, so we cannot play. WHICH IS A MAJOR FUCKING ISSUE CONSIDERING I SPENT ALL MY MONEY ON THIS CHARACTER! I mean why the purchases aren't account based I have no idea, what happens when I delete a character? You only allow me 3 fucking characters!


Anyways join a US server because Smedley saying Prosenbiansat 1 or whatever the fuck they're called turned out to be a lie about them being good for the EU. I mean who places their trust in a company with such a retarded name?


We finally get in, we're put in different locations because yes SOE decided to put no Sancs in which turns out to be a complete disaster, not only for meeting friends but also for how islands are now captured. Oh look it puts you straight into combat, my friend has no clue what is going in, gets frustrated because he dies straight away and is like WTF? So luckily I'm here and tell him to spawn at the warp gate and then make his way to Indar, we'll meet there. However for some reason the warp button ain't working, it wont let us switch... the game gives you no feedback to why you cannot.

We finally get to the same Cont, it had to be Amerish? However we didn't start in the same building. I ask him to add me to friends which he does and then I invite him to the squad........ erm it now says it cannot find his name? He invited me, he is in my friends list but the game cannot find him? Just to make sure I ask server and faction and that is correct, yet the game cannot find him? He invites me and it cannot find me either?

I quit in frustration tbh...........


We told you SOE not to rush the launch, you did, it is a complete mess, I wouldn't be surprised if 2/3 of the people who tried it are quitting right now. I expect to see the game with 2 populated servers, the rest dead and SOE fails to merge all the dead ones, probably 3 months from now.


I've tried to love this game more than anyone tbh, I keep coming back for more just to get burnt. I loved Planetside for the short time it was good before Core Combat and then the stupid Christmas hat and BFRs the following year. If you cannot win over a Planetside vet then who will you win over? Most feedback I see from random game forums is, it's buggy, it isn't fun, there is no point to combat, no idea what they're doing.

It's is like SOE failed to fix any problems with Planetside, they just created new ones. Just angers me that SOE decided to rush another unfinished product to launch, when apparently they have learnt.....

EQ - Luclin/PoP
EQ2 - Buggy mess of a launch
SWG - CU and NGE and Holocrons
PS - CC and BFRS
DCUO - Rushed buggy launch with no content


You ain't learnt SOE, you're just too impatient. you don't listen to the customers either, we've been asking for the old MCG model for months and still not. We've been asking for MBTs to have a multi crew role and it was a no.

If I can offer some advice:

1. Stop trying so hard.
2. Stop worrying about things you can't directly control in the game, especially the perceived poor play of teammates or other elements you can't directly influence and just enjoy it.
3. Every minor annoyance, no matter how trivial it really is, might reinforce your feelings, ignore them.
4. Have fun

They could have waited another year before launching the game... There would still be the issues you're having. Nature of an MMO launch. Every new Mmo has growing pains. Don't like it... Well too bad. Don't play mmos in their infancy.

OP I was on to you in your first line. 360 controller has nothing to do with PS2 crashing. Mine is always plugged in and PS2 hasn't crashed once. I'd bet that half your troubles were probably local to your machine.

I had literally just plugged mine in about 3 minutes before reading this thread, and I used one of the rear USB ports because I intended to leave it plugged in at all times. Which meant a short but frustrating session of mountaineering acorss my desk and getting stuck down the side of it against the wall.

Frankly, this game is pretty freakin' awesome. It's met my very high expectations, and if you're just going to bellyache about it with EVERY DAMN POST, just quit already and save us the trouble of having to read your incessant whining.

There's a big difference between posting constructive criticism and just being negative all the time.

My friend and I have never had a problem with finding each other or forming a squad. I think Planetside2 is by far the best FPS going. I love that we can play any time day or night. Always a good battle some where. Of course I have always been a cup half full person and not a cup half empty.
