If you cannot see the target because of reneder distance you do not do damage.
Take example. Engineer repairing a tank. Hitting the tank will do damge because you can see it and it is rendered. But the person getting hit by the splash damage will not get harmed because he is not rendered in the atackers view. Is this true? No indirect fire or anything? |

The rendering issue sucks, although something funny happened in a zerged tech plant.
I spawned and quickly flew up to cap point, which was heavily defended. However, since I moved up there so quickly, no one rendered and the base looked empty. Now since I made it up there, I presume they couldn't see me either. I accidentally hit my grenade button, it fell to my feet, and I tried to run away. At that instant, everyone appeared and I realized I was standing in the middle of 5 NC. They quickly mowed me own, then my grenade exploded, killing three if them. |

People bitch about this rendering stuff - but its the only thing saving the game.
If Libs could actually see the game would be nearly unplayable for infantry outside of biodomes.

Certain things are immune to it I hear. Like grenades because they are a part of the world at the time you throw them independent of you. But yeah your bullets apparently cannot harm what you have not rendered because bullet hit detection is handled client side.

However I wouldn't mind if there was like some ground control laser designator for the libs to shoot at. And it will go by the players rendered by the ground observer instead of the lib gunner. Might be an easy work around that everyone can agree on. But you got to admit that is some seriously weak game code right there. (and people wonder why I say Planetside porgraming is superior to Planetside 2. |

I'd love to see some sort of ground target designator for he Lib. Obviously it'd have to reward the person on the ground as well. That could be a great function of the IFF dart |

If you are in a tank next to a building and there is an enemy in the building, so you shoot through an open window or door you often get a hit detection flash. |

Is this proven and/or is there video evidence?
Given all the other dynamic rendering issues there are if they were able to easily conditionally override the logic it seems like they'd be able to fix many of those issues. Thermal has limited range anyhow. Any chance it is working because it ignores everything else outside of thermal range that would otherwise be competing to render? |

Have you seen how many layers character models have? I mean I reckon that is the reason for low performance, there are so many! They need to rework the models and only have one or two layers or detail and they're so high res even on the parts you cannot see.

The pop in rendering atm is atrocious and last night it was very frustrating.
Was fighting at the Crossroads and the NC were in the tower at the vehicle bay where the large tree is as you look to The Crown. The TR were fighting from the tree. There is a road way that leads from that vehicle bay. We literally could not see each other from across that road. It wasnt until you ventured on to the road could you see the troops on the other side. Its like 30m at most. The game is pathetic when its like that. Is this the only way they can increase the performance of the game? I notice the PS2 page says "massive combat on a scale never before seen" Yeah the never seen bit is right. The more people that come to the fight the smaller the arena gets. Massive combat on an epic scale my ass...why have they let it get so bad. /end rant |
