Has anyone thoroughly tested these out for the Mosquito already?
I'm tempted to go with the speed performance upgrade as running away seems the best option to get someone of your tail atm. I also saw a vid that showed that a speed maxed out Reaver can outrun a lock-on missile, making it a must-have upgrade for that fighter. Not sure if that applies to the Mosquito as well. Plenty of fliers have dodged my AA missiles by simply timing their turns and using aggressive deflection angles.
I don't seem to have much luck doing it, but I've seen others who can. So I guess if you're one of them, you might be able to equip something else. |

The problem is you cannot balance the game to the unlocks because then people without them suffer. You need to balance the unlocks....
I personally go for speed because the other two you can do with skill but being able to out run aircraft that are chasing you is such a nice thing to have. I mean with Planetside 2's flight model it is really who sees who first wins unless the other person escapes. |

A reaver with the performance frame can indeed out run a missile but only until his afterburner dies out and the missile is fired at long range. If I fire the missile close the reaver generally can’t out run the missile.
The performance airframe adds very little to the top speed as far as a mosy goes but I find having a little more speed does help; however, those aircraft that can all but stop in the air on a dime do better in my experience one on one compared to the ones with increased speed. Let me say this, the battle is won by positioning! Most pilots fly at 400-500 altitude depending on terrain. Fly at 700-800 altitude and pick the fight and how you enter it and you will win most fights. I have over 600 A2A kills using this tactic so take my advice as you will. |

at the end of the day it all depends on how you fly or the roll you want to play. i use the dogfighting pack as i like the control it gives me and i do alot of maneuvering while flying to avoid rockets, get away from lock on and other jets as well as being able to get the aircraft into firing positions easy and then get the hell out of there round mountains, bridges ect.
as with alot of things in this game its all down to how you play. which i like alot

I find the dog fighting upgrade to be useless, it doesn't make that much of a difference, though I've only unlocked 2/3. The problem is everyone has lock on missles and the on islands like Esamir or open areas your only choice is to out run the thing. The only upgrade I've found useful for that is the speed because you can easily get away from the missle to a mountain or something and make a sharp turn around it.
Dog fighting doesn't exist thanx to lock on missles and with the amount of AA on the ground you never hang around very long and again speed is what you want to get away from ground based AA. The faster you go the harder it is to hit you, like using ground AA I find it impossible to hit a ESF at full speed, nothing registers on it no matter where you shoot, unless it is very close. |
