Hi, I haven't gotten the game to work yet. Re-installing right now. I was just wondering what faction I will have the most fun with. I was thinking the New Conglamorate. I usually like to play a support role, like sniper or maybe engineer or defensive assault (if that even makes sense). From what I've read the New Conglamorate is less run and gun and more aim to kill. Anybody have some practical advise based on how I like to play rather than just what faction you personally like?

NC weapons hit hard.. when they hit. They have a lot of recoil and the cone of fire is huge, as well as a slow rate of fire, but they hit hard. Overall, the stock weapons take a bit more skill to use off the bat (not a problem if you're an experienced FPS player, newbies and less skilled players will have issues). You can rectify that with certs/cash though (buying weapons that have less damage but more accuracy/less recoil).
NC snipers however are the only ones to start with a bolt action sniper rifle (one hit kill headshot, two body, except heavies with their shields), the other two factions have to buy them with certs (or cash). NC heavy assaults start with the worst gun in the universe (unless you're skilled enough to make it function, if you are you're a wizard), but you can get access to some that are a lot better. I play more of a defensive heavy (when I play heavy, I split my time between that and engineer/tanker) and it seems to work fine. I haven't played a lot of support engineer, but there's a lot you can do with engineer that makes it quite a fun class to play. Same with combat medic, who also get better guns than engineer. Good thing is you can switch around and try out things as much as you like, so you can get a feel for things. I only played a tiny bit of the other two factions in beta so I don't really have a feel for them.. other than them killing me. Last edited by ShadetheDruid; 2012-12-03 at 04:47 PM. |

I tried out the NC first. I've hear people complain about kick, but it doesn't seem any worse that most other FPSs. The sniper rifle is nice, one shot head shot. I may give the Terrans a try later today, but I have no intention of playing the Vanu. The remind me too much of the Covenant from Halo, who I hated. I like bullets, not lasers lol.

The TR are quick in both RoF and top speed for vehicles, but they hit light. They also have larger magazines. As an aside, they (in my experience at least) tend to have the most organized guilds/clans as well as the most hardcore FPS'ers.
The VS tend to have more controllable weapons, and some specialize in straight accuracy. They also enjoy quick reload times for most weapons, however they're dmg & RoF is middling leading to them having average to lower DPS compared to the other two factions. They're vehicles are supremely manuverable, however they can be a bit frail. Their lasers don't have bullet drop (duh) and also travel faster than bullets, which can be nice. As opposed to the other factions the VS have a mishmash of various strengths and weaknesses instead of a clear-cut advantage. Finally, one major weakness for VS is that, for US west servers at least, the VS have the least organizations and the most casual players. My VS server (Connery) tends to have the least VS populations compared to the NC's 666th and the TR's outfit (might be called TAG, donno for sure, but it doesn't seem to be Enclave). Really, faction differences matter little compared to which one has an outfit online at the moment. |
