Alright guys! I recently joined the PlanetSide 2 community and during that time I accumulated enough certs to have one of the two secondaries for the scythe but I cannot decide! Here's when I need the community's support.
I understand that this is a personal choice type of weapon, I've talked to several players who have tried these weapons and have both what they've told me is quite disappointing: Personal Choice; Depending on Situation; Underpowered (Because of Vanu's perks); Overpowered? This is why im confused, I had heard a rumor that the "Scythe Dual Phonton Pods (Unguided Pods) were going to be nerfed hindering it useless to infantry and air targets. Those that I've talked to have said the unguided rockets are unaffective against ground vechiles while the lockon missles do not have the ability to lock on to vechiles but fire "dummy missiles" Here's what I'm trying to get at, which one should I get?! I'm a decent pilot (I hope so), I do enjoy explosions and lots of them. Having 1,000 certs and debating to have Air-to-Ground attacks or specify in having Air-to-Air combat. Your input? |

Depends on what you intend to use your scythe for.
A2G basically makes non-sunderer ground vehicles very very very easy kills. Just swing around behind them and unload a salvo of missiles into their butt and they'll blow up faster than they can jump out of the vehicle and escape the fatal area of the vehicle's explosion. It's also very damaging vs. normal infantry, I think 3 shots that land within 3m of an infantry or 8 that hit but don't get within 3m to kill one. That number is about to get cut in half to 1.5m for full damage, so I wouldn't get A2G just to farm infantry anymore. Also, against other ESFs all you have is the nose gun, so don't bother fighting anyone who doesn't also have A2G because you'll just get wrecked. Rocket pods can be used against airborne Liberators and Galaxies just fine and does plenty of damage, but you have to be right on top of them and it's rather difficult to be that close without exposing yourself to their guns. A2A is basically the opposite. You pretty much own the air and anyone(including liberators and galaxies) who doesn't have A2A has to immediately run for their lives or you will kill them 100% of the time without fail. I think they're a little too easy to escape, but considering that you can never win in a stand up fight against them that might be intentional. Last edited by Zaik; 2012-12-09 at 07:37 AM. |

You said you are a decent pilot, if that is true take A2G, they are very powerfull and can be used vs everything, inf, armor, air.
If you are as you say decend you wont have a problem fighting enemy air with the gun and the dual photons and therefor have no need for A2AM, there is a A2G nerf supposed to come but it looks like a minor one to me. (reduced spash vs inf) Oh,and shameless self promotion I have ESF gameplay footage on my YT,both A2G and A2A, maybe it helps you decide. http://www.youtube.com/user/GrmlZGaming
