Has anyone else experienced this?
As an engineer, I can carry 3 anti-tank mines. When I place the first, my inventory switches over to my rifle. So I have to switch back to the AT mine device to lay the second. Then the same thing for the third. I've also experienced a problem where I'll switch to my repair tool and hit the button to begin repairs, only to have my rifle pop up and fire off a burst because I'm holding down the button expecting a repair stream. I've actually killed a couple of friendly damaged MAX suits like this. |

I now pause for about half a second to be sure I've got the right thing equipped before I start... |

As a dedicated Engy I have experienced the the repair gun switch on regular occasions but I haven't bothered to try mines since laying down one in beta.
But while we are talking things Engy, this weekend on woodman has been a rough time for laying ammo packs only to find they don't distribute anything, I thought we'd got past this kind of thing by now. |

Aye the mine thing always happens for me, the repair gun only switches on occasion.
It's damn irritating.

I was about to start a thread about this... It's very irritating when laying mines. Why ? They are usually laid in pairs very close to each other and under time/pressure constraints.
Any seconds lost due to the weapon switch is a frustration. It's like a rifle jamming... It always happens when you use it and need to use it/rely on it; not when you don't. Frustration at its climax ! |

I'm really glad it isn't just me then. I was afraid that I was experiencing some sort of lag, when I've traditonally had an excellent ping on North American gaming servers.
To the person who mentioned pressure/time when laying mines, you're absolutely right. It's incredibly frustrating when I'm trying to lay mines infront of an enemy armored column that's about to come around the corner, and I have to take an extra 3-4 seconds to realize my mine device has switched to rifle, and switch back. It's often cost me a death. |
