Im really interested in the use of flashes in outfit play. My outfit uses them almost exclusively for transport but i want that to evolve to jihad flashes, roaming mobs of tank vultures and such.
How do you use flashes? Any ideas of how to best utilise flashes? This was my outfit pissing about for two days around christmas, nothing spectacular. Sidenote flashes need a buff |

Haha, if I would've seen that barrel roll in game I would've been yelling "Damn VS and their hover tech, NERF!"
Loved the fury flash in beta. Haven't spent much certs on it since release though. I heard the speed is a waste since it's a marginal increase in speed. |

I have fun using my Flash - one time I drove up behind a sniper in a building and shot him which i think was my most insulting kill ever.
But over It would be pretty hopeless for me to try and build a stratgey arund them - they are great transport and good for oppertunistic kills - but they are weak against anyone who knows how to respond.

I feel they would be good in an organised situation, where a group of people (or an outfit etc) could send out some scouts on Flashes to assess enemy ground movements without attracting too much attention.
I think they mostly get used as disposable transports at the minute. At least that's what I use them for (which isn't often, because they scare me ). |

I have a Basilisk on mine and I enjoy it. I've killed a few vehicles with it... it's great for chasing down that fleeing, burning tank, and pumping some rounds into the rear armor. It's also good for sniping at infantry with, as it only takes a few rounds for a kill and it has reasonable accuracy.
I've been thinking about the grenade launcher, but I figured it's probably harder to fire on the move than a direct-fire weapon. If you're on a Flash, sitting still is an easy way to get killed quickly. Last edited by Electrofreak; 2012-12-25 at 10:33 AM. |

I mainly use Flashes to get around the battlefield quicker, as I don't tend to like playing tanks so much.
I've also found them useful (by accident) in detonating pre-placed tank mines by engineers. They think they're going to net a sundy/tank kill, but all they get is a Flash kill. I'd like to try out a Flash with a weapon on it someday. |

Can't talk about PlanetSide 2 without asking for something to be buffed or nerfed, so here I go..
In PlanetSide 1, I LOVED the Fury. Those direct-fire rockets hurt basically everything you could hit it with, but the catch was it was difficult to use against infantry because it was so hard to hit them. My favorite was hunting AA MAXs with it. That, or hunting Lodestars. That's just for kills, mind you. Aside from that, it was fairly easy to get a ton of assist points taking down MBTs. Further, if an aircraft let you shoot at them with it, they pretty much died. So, I loved the Fury. Now, in PS2, in place of all the various ATVs we have the streamlined Flash platform. That's great, except it's basically worthless in combat because you can get sniped off of it, in addition to poor map design making it excessively difficult to get into position and fire with it. The Fury grenade launcher especially is so radically different from the PS1 Fury, I wasn't sure what to do with it at first. It doesn't fire directly, and it has a gigantic arc making it excessively difficult to use at range. As a little ground transport vehicle with a gun strapped to it, the Flash is great, but I feel as though the combat aspect of the Flash is basically missing from PS2. The Fury grenade launcher has a really good AOE for farming infantry, but it does basically nothing to vehicles unless you get behind them. Nevermind hitting them from a safe distance, because the arc on the Fury shells make it useless past, say, 100m. So, my complaint is pretty much Fury grenade launcher should shoot straight, although it could stand to have its rate-of-fire reduced cause it basically shoots frag grenades worth of damage. I have fun with it up close, but another real problem with the Fury/Flash compared to PS1 is that you can actually be shot off of it. I'm all for that added 'realism', but if you do anything for the Flash, please allow us to certify into something that will protect the driver of the Flash from all angles. Fury in PS1 was made of paper. This Flash-Fury in PS2 is .. eh, basically the same armor-wise, but the driver and the vehicle itself are way to vulnerable to small-arms fire. That's my complaint. Flash can be fun, but it's underpowered. LOL, yes, I am really complaining about an ATV being underpowered. It is! I miss the Fury. Simple suggestion: Allow the Halberd MBT seconday cannon to be equipped on Flash (probably deserving an ammunition reduction). Last edited by AThreatToYou; 2012-12-25 at 05:32 PM. |
