(first off wanna tip my hat to the TR that made this fight so much fun)\
This is a Field report of operations of the Vanu alliance (Sentinels, Xen of Onslaught, Quantum Dawn, Warrior Nation, Cult of Arcadia), Server Waterson on 12/30/2012. This report is from the point of view of Xen of Onslaught Platoon Commander Fear the Amish.
Operation: Digital Noose
Location: Esamir
Operation began when Vanu Alliance leaders noticed that Esamir had a chance of being captured for the glory of the Vanu sovereignty. Xen began a ground pushing using two squads of infantry (Bravo and Charlie) and one of air (Alpha). We were able to quickly climb the eastern side of the map starting with Frostfall and ending with Grey Heron. During this time Sentinels were able to use a platoon of airborne infantry to secure several back cap attempts of the TR freeing us up for movement northward. At this point bravo squad was ordered to hold Grey Heron as the first step of building the Noose. Alpha and Charlie then moved onto Still Water watch but it had already fallen to our Glorious forces. Next was Northpoint station. Charlie was using two sundies AMS and Battle, after several pushes we were unable to take it and were forced back to Stillwater.
After arriving at Stillwater the position was surrounded by several squads of TR tanks and was being beaten into submission. At this point my radio came to life and I heard “Sentinels Airborne Incoming Hold for 2 minutes”. I looked at the cap timer and realized Stillwater would fall in less than a minute. I turned to my troops “ladies and Gents we have allies inc we need to buy ourselves 2 minutes…Rush A on my mark”. Alpha’s liberators were tasked with giving us one bombing run on then SW entrance to clear an opening but they wouldn’t be able to stay overhead because of the massive influx of enemy ESF’s. The liberators came in low and blasted several prowlers and lightnings out of the way. “MARK!!!” we rushed out into a hail of shrapnel and explosions losing several immediately at the door. We reached the closest building with 8 infantry troops clearing it of enemies brought us down to 6. “GO GO GO” laying down suppressive fire we ran for the Cap point 4 where left when we entered. Using grenades and more fire we cleared the point and setup defensive positions. We knew a counter attack was coming any second so we reloaded and took positions to cover the doors and windows. It started with grenades wounding several of us and then the TR infantry struck. We were less than half a squad they were a platoon but we held the doors for a few seconds. As the last one of us fell a deep hum could be heard steadily rising in frequency, I gathered our forces in the spawn for what was coming. We then rushed out once again and looked up to see four galaxies disgorging air borne infantry, The Sentinels had arrived. It took us just minutes to finish mopping up the base and recurring the perimeter.
We had done it the noose was almost complete. Sentinels commanders advised me in allied comms that they would be moving on to Northpoint. I told them that Xen would cover Still water and Grey Heron while they completed the operation. We received several counter attacks but were able to hold them outside of the main perimeter. It got very hairy near the end of the operation when they pushed with eight to ten prowlers as well as at least a platoon of infantry but we were able to hold once again until delta squad in armor was able to show up and push them back outside of the perimeter. The operation would have been a success but the radio crackled to life again “GANDALF, GANDALF, GANDALF!” The TR had set their eyes on Indar and we needed to pull back and re-deploy to stop it.
More to Come with Operation Gandalf.....
