Why didn't they put an event in place on ALL servers?

Feeling pretty ****ing unapreciated over here in EU land. I have to watch the first event for the game on Twitch or make a noob toon on US server?!

Just seems like a missed opportunity considering the profile of the event.

This is about SOE targeting new FPS players that haven't tried PS2.

Could've quite easily have been kept for the main event. All they had to do was a bit of creative marketing. What they've done is alienate the rest of the world, indeed the rest of the US too (although it's much more practical for US players to have a character on Connery)
I'm sure there'll be big battles across all the servers on Friday but (maybe because I bought AS and am subbing) it still feels like a kick in the teeth from SOE.

Its about logistics, they're going to have the teams all playing in the same "hall" next to each other, and doing that across different timezones and servers would have cost too much and made not the slightest bit of difference in the long run.

At least all the guys participating now will be some sort of semi e-sports style event with a crowd and cheers, etc... which tbh is fine by me, let them.

I still have no clue what this event is and have not took the time to look it up, and really have no desire to look it up. If this is some marketing stunt to get PS2 out there, I think they should have just spammed commercials it worked for WoW. They could have hired Silvester Stalone to just say something like, "When I want constant combat in massive numbers in a continuouse enviroment, I long into Planetside 2" then go to some shots of some battle scenes. This probably would have at least gotten the attention of most of the target audience that they were shooting for. Ive seen some reviews in some magazines and stuff but as far as alot of advertisement on TV and stuff ive seen none.

Honestly if you aren't at the event i can't see you really being able to do a whole lot on the server during the event itself. As mentioned, it's more of a PR/Fan Fare event to drum up more players for PlanetSide 2 rather than be an event for existing players.

Or is it aimed squarely at fans of these three Youtube celebs? and if that's the case then what do totalbiscuit's UK fans do to get involved? Like his PS2 vids? Watch twitch?

It's aimed squarely at picking up new players more than anything else. People watching and saying "Hey I'd like to play this" I think the whole "getting involved" piece isn't really their priority.

Media is going to be there - it will be streamed live likely on the front page of Twitch as well. So it's going to be a big event to get the word out there about PlanetSide 2.
