I think that if they bring back darker nights they should add in a command rank ability to launch a flare in the air that slowly falls and brightens up a circular area of about 100m would be really sweet and have optional colors depending on what faction you are, like red and white TR, yellow and blue for NC, and purple and green for VS.
What do you guys think? |

I was thinking about this the other day. + a flare gun aimed at the ground makes for a neat night time rally point or potential diversion as the flare burns and fizzles on the ground. |

I would love darker nights too. I think there's already a command cert to drop flares, but if they made them actually have a use in combat to light things up, it would be awesome.
They might just serve as Liberator bait, though. I could see commanders dropping them on enemy forces to light them up for the Libs, while they scramble to take the flare out. Maybe that's not the intended use, but it would still be pretty cool. |

Yeah I've always wanted a lot darker nights. The devs made the nights lighter because a lot of people in beta complained about them being too dark so they made them lighter.
Who are these people? They don't seem to represent any Planetside player I know. I wish SOE would ask more dedicated planetside players what they thought before changing things on a whim. |

As I sad in a previous thread on the same topic here. Yes I want darker nights and I mean dark enough for flashlights and headlights on vehicles is needed to use. Right now you're a fool if you don't turn off your lights ASAP you spawn a vehicle even during the night.
