... but has anyone else noticed the Prowler replacing the Magrider as King Tank? My Vanguard is having a helluva time with them after this massive buff. Even when I get the first shot in, they still do more DPS than I can do to them, even with a second gunner and both of us using anti vehicle weapons. And yes, I am also including the Van Shield blocked salvo. Even with that they still have no trouble killing me 1v1. I feel like free XP to TR now lol.
That isn't to say I don't enjoy the Titan 150-AP buff we got, sure makes killing air easier. |

Yeah, the Prowler wins at close range at this point. The margin isn't huge, though- I've had plenty of fights decided by the first shot and a miss or two. I will say that Front Armor Vanugards scare the hell out of me- I might be able to beat them in a perfect scenario, with both of our gunners doing well, but the margin of error on my side is slim. From my point of view, that's what the current situation comes down to- the Prowler will win the fight if nobody messes up, but in a chaotic battlefield situation, it's not very clear-cut at all.
Honestly I'd say it's down to the Vanguard not having a discrete and distinct role- it's a generic MBT, which is fine, but when it's all one faction has, and the others have specialized armor but no simple MBT... it gets odd. Last edited by Ghodere; 2013-02-11 at 07:11 AM. |

our Prowler might have gotten some bigger claws but I'd still consider the VS to have the best infantry weapons in game and the most manuverable fighters which fighting air or ground seems to cinch the win. Just my own opinion by the way, as they say the grass is greener on the otherside.

Dunno, it's hard to say.
I certainly tend to win in a prowler but then I've also got 4th level reload buff. I also tend the keep hull down and don't get too far forward unless there's an obviously damaged enemy to finish off. The things that kill me are. guided rockets AV turrets Mines tanks least of all, possibly because, like I say, I tend not to rush in. **Edit played today and was killed three times....... 1. By a suiciding engineer placing mines beneath my tank 2. By a tower AV turret 3. By a A2G Reaver I didn't fight with a Vanguard at all but fought with a magrider twice, once at long range without getting a kill and once at close range where I did significant damage but still didn't get a kill, ie the mag was isolated and surrounded by enemies. Its much better, but from what i have seen a vanguard can still outslug every tank. But then the Vanguard is basically the futures M1 Abrams. Thats my only complaint with the NC it fells like they just took the US Military and put it inthere

i try to fight a vanguard with HEAT shell starting at 50 m range, not even a close fight.... for some reason i couldn't break its shield and by the time the shield was down i was already dead.
at long range with AP shell i usually own vangaurd though. |

I find the roles I use my Vanguard for are typically long range bombardment, and mid-long range tank battles. I was bombing the shit out of the Crown, held by TR, yesterday. Was on the ridge by the watch tower. Even with the standard turret I destroyed a sunderer, a few lightnings, and probably got 30-40 infantry before I ran out of ammo. Situations like that, the low profile of the vanguard has an advantage. Its harder to hit. I find I can snipe Prowlers and Mag Riders cause they sit up nice and high. Especially Magriders cause of their weapon mount. They simply can't perform a hull down maneuver. I've hid behind those barricades in a 2v1 fight and still won. Their weapon just couldn't go over them at close range, whereas mine could.
I figure its all about how you use it. From what little I know, Prowlers are great for long range bombardments with the set up ability, Mag Riders are fantastically fast and maneuverable, which makes them great for getting to places or dodging fire, and the Vanguard is a heavy tank for absorbing fire, and has a smaller profile to allow it to perform those hull down maneuvers, which are fantastic. |
