Lowest possible settings?

In games such as Tribes Ascend, Team Fortress 2, there are low end configs and graphics that allow my laptop to run them smoothly. I was wondering if there was a way to tweak the ini settings to make the game look utterly horrible in return for some playable fps. If making models low poly or stuff like that are avalible please help me.

It depends what's causing your low FPS - use PS2's in-game FPS counter to find out (press Alt-F). That will tell you (with a CPU or GPU label) what is currently limiting FPS.

Seeing as PS2 is extremely CPU intensive, it's likely to be CPU holding your FPS down. If that's the case, pretty much nothing you do to the graphics settings will have any effect.

Actually there is a thread where I posted a link to what to put in your UserOptions.ini file to get an amzing increase in FPS. I'll edit it into the post in a minute.

You can. You can also reduce the Resolution to 20x20 if you want, or set the Render Distance to 10m...
I know because I did, to get the game to work properly on a laptop of a friend of mine
It looked absolutely ABYSMAL... honestly you wouldn't believe HOW bad the game can look... there was NO foliage, there basically weren't any textures either, just a garbled mess of colours, and the landscape only rendered when you basically were already there
Imagine Doom 1, just worse

But alas...the FPS weren't any better.

Well... fuck me. The only hope I got is that Sony actually does put Planetside 2 on Gaikai.

Like I said, if it's the CPU that's more underpowered than the GPU, lowering graphics makes no difference. But say if you say had a laptop with a Core i5 or i7 but terrible graphics, lowering graphics settings will definitely help.

You really need to find out whether it's the CPU or GPU holding the FPS down.

*Cough* Intel Pentium *Cough*
But I really had high hopes for this game. A team based massive mmofps for FREE made by SONY? HOOOLLLYYYY SHIIIIIIT. But once again my laptop kicks me in the balls. I feel like crying right now.

I really wish Planetside 2 gets added to Gaikai.

Yeah, sorry dude. I feel your pain - my Athlon II X2 struggles with the game at the best of times (<15FPS in big fights) and since GU2 it's been unplayably glitchy too
