Ultra Settings

Can someone tell me for sure what I need to do to UserOptions.ini to enable ultra settings? I've read many contradicting threads about this. Right now I have TextureQuality=0 and Physx enabled.

Re: Ultra Settings

You can set just about everything else to 4 or 5... leave overall quality at -1, though. Play around, see how it looks on your system.

There's no single 'ultra' setting... most people are just referring to the textures... which you've already got set correctly.

They claim that no computer can handle it, it's been mentioned a few times in various interviews.

Pcs can handle it, just not with physx to my knowledge. A 2gb gfx card can run full ultra settings flora lighting shadows textures etc, if you have less then 2gb you have to pick and choose what you run in ultra. If its ok with Hamma i can post you a link to a simple copy paste for full ultra if you would. If not a quick google might find it for you.

Of course people can run it. Ultra textures is a complete night and day difference. It looks more like a difference between low and ultra than between ultra and what's supposed to be high.

Re: Ultra Settings

Seems to work for me, strange thing is it works better, the stuttering/freezing is gone (although I've only tried it for 10 minutes so far).

I have an i7 3770 OC to 4.6G, Geforce 660Ti and asus maximus v board with 16GB ram. 120Hz monitor in 1920x1080. I put the nvidia beta drivers on and enabled physx.

CPU utilisation not great though, something is still breaking on exit also.
I've attached screenshots of performance monitor at the menu and on exit after 5-10min play.

Lightbulb Re: Ultra Settings

Quoted from my original post on NNG - hope this helps someone.

Might be 'placebo effect' but I think 5's in some areas look better.

NOTE: Still playing around with the lighting and AO quality, not sure about the best settings on those two items. The FPS is limited to avoid tearing so I don't have to use Vsync.

NOTE 2: Nvidia users can force on Physx using this config if set to use GPU as Physx handler in NVCPL. I actually GAIN 1-3 FPS in all areas with Physx ON. I'm on driver version 310.70, not the latest. Works fine.
Code:
GraphicsQuality=5
TextureQuality=0
ShadowQuality=3
RenderDistance=6000.000000
Gamma=0.600000
MaximumFPS=59
UseLod0a=1
OverallQuality=-1
LightingQuality=5
EffectsQuality=5
TerrainQuality=5
FloraQuality=5
FloralLOD=5
ModelQuality=5
VerticalFOV=55
ParticleLOD=5
ParticleDistanceScale=2.000000
EffectsDistanceScale=2.000000
FogShadowsEnable=0
MotionBlur=0
VSync=0
AO=1
AmbientOcclusionQuality=3
AOQuality=3
ForceGpuPhysics=1
GpuPhysics=1
For reference:
i7 2600K @ 4.4 on Asus z68, 8G 1600Mhz Corsair Vengeance, GTX 480 1.5GB GDDR5 @ 850 Core 1700 Shader 2000 Memory. 46" HDTV @ 1920x1080.

Avg of 55FPS lowest I've seen from Afterburner monitoring is around 35 in the heaviest of heavy battles. Forgot to add in the original post that 'RenderQuality" was changed to 1.35 from 1.00.

Re: Ultra Settings

I'm liking this. At first I was completely happy with just running everything at High. Now with talks of PhysX, I started to tinker with the useroptions.ini. After my initial changes I'm still getting ~65FPS dipping as low as 35 in battles. The game tells me that my CPU is holding me back. Not sure if I should continue tinkering or be patient for more optimization.

My specs:
  • CPU - i5 3750k OC to 4.3
  • GPU - GTX 670 (4gb)
  • 8gb RAM
  • 1920x1080

Only items I really turn down are shadows. Haven't really changed the default FOV or distances for things like particles/flora. I still can't decide if PhysX makes a noticeable difference or not. Either way, it looks good

In a big battle filled with vehicles I'll have around 20 frames with all my stuff around 5. I also experienced some bullet registry problems so I thought. "Hey maybe if I turn them down to 4 I'll get better performance."

My FPS went to single digit in fights from that.

I can't wrap my head around this stuff.
