i'm sure i am not the only one here wanting to get beta night back into the game . we know that the engine is capable of giving us proper night ; the question is can we convince the devs (specifically higby) to give us proper night combat back to us. This would allow a use for the flash light and head lights because right now you really have to be a fool to cert into them. Secondly and more importantly it would allow for a more spec ops friendly environment for small outfits which could specialize in night special operations

Theoretically yes, I'd love to get night back.
The problem I see is how do you balance out of game alpha/brignthness/monitor settings? Depending on how dark the night is this could give you an advantage borderlining on cheating... |

It was nice in theory, but TBH the tools we have for dealing with darkness are actually very limited and that leads to some potentially frustrating gameplay and very limited loadout choices.
Basically proper night will just lead to every experienced player using some form of night-vision (if they aren't already...) while newer players blunder round in the darkness getting farmed until they quit. So... yeah... IMO this is only a good idea if we're going to see an extended range of night time options and/or some counters or downsides to night-vision sights/optics. |

they could introduce a cert that replaces nano-weave/flak that makes you invisible to infra-red and night vision . and for the people changing monitor settings we can't let a couple of individuals ruin the game for the rest , let's just ignore them . (except if some one finds a better solution)

Something I've seen when this was introduced before, was the idea of changing moons. E.G.: Every so many nights, (let's say 4), the moon becomes a "New Moon." What does this mean? Darker nights on the nights there is a "new Moon" and lighter nights with a "Full Moon" and various other lighting situations on the other moon phases. Simple answer to a complex problem. New players will have the chance to cert in to "night vision" certifications to improve their night fighting skills.

Well I for one would like to see properly dark nights, even if it were only once in a while (alignment of the nearby planets). As it is, night is just a toned down version of day; no need to use headlights whilst driving (in fact, I make a point of turning them off to avoid attracting attention to myself).

Seriously though, what's the reasoning for not having it? You can't see? DUR that's the point of darkness! |
