Wow, what an amazing week for all of us. I know I speak for the rest of the team and all the great guys helping us to test this game out when I say that this game is really starting to rock. If you remember from last week, the Vanu had locked down both Hossin and Forseral, and the Terran had Oshur owned. Boy how the tides have turned. In an unexpected and remarkable demonstration of empire-wide teamwork, the New Conglomerate Invaded Amerish, Ishundar, Hossin, and Oshur on Monday and Tuesday, and managed to knock out several installations on Hossin and Oshur while locking Amerish and Ishundar down completely. The NC on the offensive! Luckily for the action-hungry, the Terrans and especially the VS werent about to take this sitting down. With the NC being such a dominant force in four continents now, the unthinkable happened: a multi-empire alliance. It was short-lived, but brilliant. While TR and VS troops never actually fought side-by-side, their attack was definitely coordinated, using a pincer-type maneuver, sweeping through NC-dominated territory from both sides. VS often came in through the west and TR through the east. By the time they neared the center the NC presence was decimated. Amerish, Ishundar, and Oshur were all victim to this tactic, with Hossin being the site of the fiercest NC resistance. Of course, while the alliance may have dethroned the NC threat in those areas, it created a veritable time bomb situation. Three continents split into two equal halves, one belongs to the Terran, the other to the Vanu. Let me tell you, when they realized their goal had been achieved, they didnt exactly shake hands and frolic in the grass. Soon Amerish, Ishundar, and Oshur were plunged into a fury of combat. One Terran player with several CEP points called Hamma successfully used a famous German World War II tactic known as Blitzkrieg in which he first ordered in a squadron of Reavers to carpet-bomb an area into submission. Shortly after the Reavers ran out of ammo, dozens of Tanks and MAX units followed in laying down heavy fire at anything that moved. Finally, a group of light infantry protecting a core of Hackers and Engineers moved in and captured all surrounding bases. The Vanu fought well, and in some areas won quite a bit of ground against the TR, but wherever Hammas crew struck, they fell fast and hard, and didnt leave anything left. Hamma's forces rolling out. The game is screaming promise, and amazingly we havent had any remotely serious issues with greifing players. All issues of a player acting out of line or out of his bounds were solved within his own unit and empire, relatively painlessly. Sever-side the game couldnt be doing better, and having hit our milestones, Im pleased to announce that Open Beta is now underway! We are just finishing the selection process, you can expect an e-mail by Wednesday or Thursday night, and well ship out the CD to you as soon as you pay shipping costs ($2.00). I look forward to seeing you all soon! -Planetside Team ---------------------------------------------------------------- Ok, there you go guys! Completely 100% made up by me, all original, but the names are all real. Hope that fills your belly a bit, I tried to be faithful! Note: Can't get the top image to work like I wanted it to, but you get the idea! Just pretend it says "Planet" before the "Side" Tell me what you think! I'm on AIM: thasheepsaysmoo -LT
