Right, which is why it's skewed. I actually almost made a thread on this last week. XP earned is affected by so many things that it doesn't tell the whole story, but I understand that it's all we have. It says "something" about a player, but we don't know what bonuses they have or what situations they got it in.

If it really bugs you, just imagine your score as Whole and divide everyone else's in half. That's the worst it can be. Those people would still be up there. |

But this is different, its just the stats that lie. It is no big deal but it would be more fun to see how much somebody else is able to get, as it is i dont know if they are twice as good as me or 4 times better at getting xp. The only point of looking at stats is to compare yourself to others. Last edited by Tamyrlin; 2013-03-15 at 07:47 PM. |

This game is based on xp gain but it punishes certain playstyles because it teaches the player to favor playstyles which farm xp (and gives them plenty of tools to do so) Playing the game in a tactical manner is less effective in gaining xp then anything else. Securing territory, playing dedicated AA etc still gives you almost no xp compared to getting into an ESF and podding the shit out of people or getting into a MBT and spamming the spawn building or simply fighting in a biolab without adjacency. The whole xp system is heavily flawed. They should not even display xp anywhere but hide it in shame. Last edited by Emperor Newt; 2013-03-16 at 06:11 AM. |

What they should do is to separate XP from Cert gain and have double "xp weekends and boosts only affect Cert gain. I think i read this idea from higby some time ago? Maybe its to late now since doing this would mean taking Battleranks away from people.
If Xp/min was shown accuratly I could at least get a hint of how somebody else is playing, it will never say everything about how well somebody is playing and (just like K/d) but it can give a hint, especially if you know their playstyle in general. Games where you can buy an advantage is always tricky to understand but they should make an effort to be honest. |

There is no metric in this game that can be used to measure the value of a player. There's no compound metric either.
Any attempt at identifying a metric will always measure farmers higher than the player who dies repeatedly defending a contested capture point. |

It's not about how many people you killed, how much score you get per minute, or any of those factors, the only people that can gauge how good you are are the other players you play with and the players you play against through actions seen first hand. A good player helps capture territory, by all means necessary, be it Kills / Driving sunderers, flying Galaxies, etc... This is why planetside is unique, the game shouldn't be about who has the highest score or kills and leaderboards for that purpose are irrelevant and detract from the meaning of the game. Spending too much time trying to figure out a stat that measures you against your peers is pointless timewasting drivel, and you should concentrate on just playing the game to the best of your ability. |
