This maybe a silly question (who wouldn't)..... But who would like to see the Oculus Rift in Planetside 2.?
Im getting very excited about this lately and we have a DEV kit on the way to the office. All I can think about is running around having the Rift control head camera movement but keep mouse controls and keyboard for character movement. Tweeted Higby today about it and he replied rather quickly by saying "he hopes so"...... Fingers crossed SOE also have a dev kit on the way to them... p.s Valve/TF2 just signed up to be one of the first games to use/Beta the Rift on a global scale. (I think servers just for Rift players)

Yea, I think they would need to fix the preformance issues first, anything below 60 fps and the Rift starts falling to shit supposedly, and I imagine that's with Vsync on. Does the rift need 3d processing too? because if so thats even more strain considering PS2's performance issues.

Used one of the same kind when mech warrior 2 was released.
It was cool to look around inside your mech. Too bad it had very poor resolution and you can't use it for too long or you get tired, I hope oculus rift can solve both of these problems. Also, I wish they give priority to the existent peripheral before they started developing support for a peripheral nobody have. I tried so much times my Xbox controller in the game so I can do small and precise analogical curves, with no success, also got lots of friend from bf-3 with controllers that they are used to use them to pilot in most games to be of no use in planetside 2, an analogical speed controller is essential for me. |

People would have to adjust A LOT to play FPS with free head movement. Imagine not being able to keep your reticle still, which is what it'd feel like when you just start using the Oculus Rift.
If they put it in, and it's awesome, and I have lots and lots of MONEY, I don't see why I shouldn't get it myself. Maybe SOE will even allow you to look backwards on the Flash now. Because seriously, you can do it in the Sundy already. Also, going external vehicle camera with the Oculus Rift is something I image will be TRIPPY. |

It could be cool addition but I'm not sure how popular that would be to wear that thing on the head. I'm some times tired even from my light headset after several hours of game play.
Also, since PS2 is not GPU heavy that extra unused GPU power can be dropped on Oculus 3D rendering. Profit! |

I would love to see PS2 on the rift, they have about half a year to a year before the commicrial units come out and I don't think making the head tracking (which would be nice for people without it 2, if you could use a alt key to look around ala arma). |

I couldn't get them to get TrackIR support integrated - Rift seems like a stretch. That said, TF2 will have support when the dev kit arrives, so at least I'll have something to play that I enjoy.
I suspect this is one of those momentum situations, wherein absolutely no one will have heard of it for 6 months, and suddenly every title on the planet supports it overnight. |

I have a feeling you are right that no one will know about it for about 6 months before blowing up. |
