Im sure this has been discuessed before but i couldnt find any good answer.
Right now it feels like there is no point taking a hex if there is no lockdown on it becasue as soon as you leave it and go for next hex the enemy just follow your tail to take back the hexes instead of trying to defend and stop the serg. Why is it so that hexes doesnt have a lockdown, lets say for 15min for small bases and 30min for big ones before it can be retaken? it would make more sence if you try to capture a whole continent. And enemies would focus more on defend and fight back rather than just take back the tail. |

Here's the thing, the entire hex system is being scrapped soon (April IIRC) in exchange for a more lattice like system. Thus any discussion on how to improve the hex system is moot, since the hex system has been taken to the desert, and SOE is just waiting for it to dig that hole before putting the bullet in it.

Just as units have to stay behind to defend territories in Risk, it should be so here. The problem is that there doesn't seem to be enough incentive to defend in this game, even with the 15% XP defense bonus.
Personally, I love to defend bases, and will usually try to hold out until I can't spawn anymore. Playing defense is fun and adds a "desperation" to the game, "last stand" kind of thing. [Disclaimer: If there is absolutely no way that my squad/platoon can hold a base, we won't waste our time.] Changes need to be made to want to defend things, and I think the new lattice concept is a step in the right direction. Hex locking is not. |

maybe the lattice system will solve it. I was just thinking that if I know that if the enemy take this hex close to my wapgate then I have to wait 30 min before we can reclaim it, hence we better put a better effort defending it.
Now its more like. let them have it, in 5 min they move on and i can retake it later. I dont get why users back in beta would wait for that countdown when it was tried. they should have gone defending wherever the enemy zerg was to stop them locking down hexes. |
